How was the band formed? The band was formed in August 1993 by Me ( Barry Ruiz) Bass ,Frankie Lasco Drums, Jose Rendon  Guitar, Milton Moran Jr Guitar and Martin Gonzalez.. i started the band of using the elements of hardcore and deathmetal (yes we was deathcore before it was cool!) listening to bands like sick of it all,Grave, Biohazard and Gorefest we wanted to mix the genres to expand the audience..

Can you tell about your band? Goatamentise was 1st an idea of a evil satanic death metal band 1st of all the bands name was a mistake cause it was suppose to be called goat of mendise but i spelled it out the other way and it stuck cause it was unique and no one had it.. we had and up and down history we played some great shows and some bad shows but then what band has not gone through that.... but we was fortunate to get the chance to play with some great bands in our history.. Bands like Irate (NYC),Dehumanized, Internal Bleeding, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Dying Fetus, Billy Club sandwich, MadBall, Diecast and 4 In Tha Chamber....

What was the ambitions of the band when you started? Well like most bands we wanted to be as heavy and brutal as possible! lol but like most bands we faced that hard road of trying to succeed...

Could you explain your music to someone that haven't heard you? if Slayer, Sick Of It All, Grave had an orgy and one them got pregnant Goatamentise would be the Love child!! LOL

Where was your first gig? June 1994 at a club in Manhattan called bond street cafe

Where was the latest gig? May 2008 at a club in Manhattan Called The Pyramid 

Who writes your songs?/Who writes the music who writes lyrics? In the Start of the band i was the key lyric writer but everyone contributed to the song writing.

Who has the best since of humor in the band? Hmmmm i have to say we all did... we all had a great time and making each other laugh was a necessity.

What's good/bad with the band?/What genre do you feel you are? No one has a perfect band you always did things to improve you music and your way of playing .... when we 1st started we labeled ourselves DeathCore cause you heard the influences of Death Metal And Hard Core But when we got to the later parts of our playing the music went more Death Metal with a hint of hardcore and Thrash...

Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? well the style was picked due to our influences and the songs are about everything from politics and war, Suicide and depression to Satanismand religion....

Do you write your own material or mainly covers? All our songs are originals...

Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? Unfortunately in the span of years that we played and using our own money we was able to put out 2 albums... Severed ties 1999 and the Goatamentise self titled 2006

Do you have any clips on YouTube? Yes! there are a bunch of old shows that i downloaded and there is even our 1st and only music video produced by Greg called Dead world Check it out...

How old are you?/What got you started in music? well I'm now 40 years old i have been into Metal since i was 13 years old and what got me into Music was the Iron maiden poster Stranger in a strange land

At what age did you start playing? i was 15 years old when i started playing bass thanks to the all mighty Cliff Burton!!

How old were you guys when you first stood on stage? i was 19 when we played our 1st show martin was 21, Frankie was 14, Rendon was 20 and Milton was 19

What year was the band started? 1993

Best/worst gig you've played? Best show was most definitely our 1st show we had the club packed .... our worst show sometime in 2002 we played a show and for some reason we did not play till 2:30 in the morning in front of 5 people

What places will you be playing in in the intimidate future? right now we are retired but we are starting to get the itch to play so stay tuned...

Which band is the best you have seen? for sure the best band i have seen live Malevolent Creation

Is it always the same songs live? we mix it up...

What has been the best/most promising gig so far? when we got to play the last few shows at CBGB'S

Have you had any bigger tours from start to now? we only had one big tour it was back in 1999 with 4 In Tha Chamber we did a tour of Pennsylvania  

How big crowds do you usually play for? from 5 and up! LOL

What are the plans for the rest of the year? still retired 

Where do you usually play? we used to play A lot in Queens but who knows where will go if we get back going....

How do you get psyched up for a gig? i always liked to listen to some Deicide and Malevolent Creation

What are your goals with your music? i want Goatamentise to live forever

Is it easier to get your inspiration from older bands or from bands more modern? I'm old school so i say older bands....

What's the first step when making a new song? make a new riff and work with it till it becomes something new 

How do you feel about the downloading of music instead of buying albums? well i prefer to buy albums... but i don't matter to me

What would be your dreams for the band? to one day play a European festival cause you guys appreciate music

What do you hold most dear? my children....

What would be your greatest fears for the future? to not see my grandchildren grow....

When you are on stage, what do you fear most then? not to sound like an ass but i had no fear loved being on stage....

Have you been in any other bands?

i haven't but the other member's was...

Ramon was in Blackout

Greg was in Demized

Manny was in driven by hatred

Luis was in Dead Season

What do you work with outside of the band and the music? we work regular jobs to maintain for our families....

How important are your fans? without the fans there is no band....

What's the funniest/most memorable thing a fan has done for you? one of our fans got our song dead world to be the title track for a B rated movie... 

How often do you rehearse? when we did it was at least twice a week and 4 times a week before a show

Where do you rehearse? we used to have a spot in the bronx

Name 2 of your own songs you like at the moment? my favorite 2 songs are Lost Souls and Dead World

What drives a band that isn't all that famous and renowned to try to make a living on their music and to keep playing? well thats the mistake if they think they will make money doing it.... you have to do it for the love and maybe you'll get paid.

How do you view the musicindurty of today? not good thats why a lot of old bands keep coming back! to many shitty bands 

What are the biggest obstacles for a band? Money to keep the band going....

What is best/worst with playing the clubs? depends on the club....

Tell us about upcomming gigs and why we should be at them? none at this time...

How would you describe your sound in one sentence Goatamentise

What was one of the most quarrelsome times for you in the band? When our guitarist Milton was murdered in 2004.... that was a dark time

Whats your Pre-show ritual? chocolate milk....
