Interview with All Systems Go

What´s the name of your band? All Systems Go

How was the band formed? Joe Fenech, Andrew Camilleri, and Andrew Laich all went to the same high school and Rico Morris was in a previous band with Andrew Laich. We all loved the same music growing up so playing pop punk music together felt right.

Can you tell about your band? We are a pop punk band from Detroit, Michigan.

Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band? We are all from the Detroit area. Andrew Camilleri plays bass, Andrew Laich plays drums, Rico plays guitar and sings lead vocals, and Joe plays guitar and sings backing vocals.

What was the ambitions of the band when you started?

We never had big ambitions, we just wanted to play music we love and have fun doing it.

Could you explain your music to someone that haven't heard you?

We play pop-punk music. We draw heavy influence from bands like The Wonder Years, The Story So Far and Four Year Strong.

Where was your first gig? Our first gig was at a music bar call Simon's After Dark in our hometown.

Where was the latest gig? Simon's was also our most recent gig, we play there often because of how close it is to us.

Who writes your songs?/Who writes the music who writes lyrics? The music writing is usually a team effort. Rico writes the majority of the music and Joe writes a majority of the lyrics.

Who has the best since of humor in the band? We all have a pretty ridiculous sense of humor, we never take ourselves too seriously.

Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? We play pop punk because we all grew up listening to it and it's the happy vibe and high energy feeling that we find appealing about the genre.

Do you write your own material or mainly covers? We mostly play our own material but we're known for covering Fall Out Boy songs and a few others from time to time.

Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? We've recorded 2 EPs. One is a self titled EP and our most recent is called Anywhere But Here.

What year was the band started? The band started during the summer of last year.

Best/worst gig you've played? The best gig we've played was probably our first gig with Andrew Camilleri, we had a crowd of about 60 people which was very exciting.

What are the plans for the rest of the year? We plan on finishing demoing our upcoming album this winter then going into a studio next spring to record it.

What are your sources of inspiration? Life, friends, past experiences and drawing on something we may find inspiring that day.

Name 2 of your own songs you like at the moment? (Joe) My personal favorite songs of ours at the moment  are "Strangers" and "Common Courtesy"

What drives a band that isn't all that famous and renowned to try to make a living on their music and to keep playing? If the love of playing music isn't enough for a band then they shouldn't be playing music in the first place.

Do you have any webpages? We have a Facebook page: www.facebook.com/AllSystemsGo

Tell us about upcomming gigs and why we should be at them? We're playing Simon's on September 14th, it's Joe's 21st birthday show so it's going to be a rager!
