interview with Raum Kingdom

Have any of you played in other bands? Hey, Yep we've all been part of other bands.
How is it that you started playing music? I'm sure we'd all have different stories as to why we started but for me i've had a solid interest in music since i was a kid and always wanted to contribute something to that world.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Vocals - Dave Lee
Guitars - Andrew Colohan
Bass - Ronan Connor
Drums - Mark Gilchrist
and we're all in our thirties 
Have you had other previous members? Nope.
Did you make music even when you were young? We tried.
Where are you from? We're all from Ireland.
What year did the band form? 2013/2014
What's your style of genre? I'm not 100% sure in some reviews we've picked up for the EP we've been labeled post metal, sludge, post rock, doom and most recently grunge so take your pick ;)
What inspires you? Other music, movies, books and an unhealthy hatred for alot of people.
How often and where do you reherse? Often.
How have you developed since you started with the music? I think we've come along way since we started and we're still developing.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yep we all have are own shit going on.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Nope and i don't really have any thoughts on it.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We aren't really looking as such we're happy doing it on our own but if one was to apporch us we'd be open to talks.
What made you decide to make this music? I'm not to sure we decided to write music like this exactly it just grew into what it is and it's still growing.
What are your songs about? Pain. Loss. Inner demons and  Fairies.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? We all contribute in our own ways.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Generally a sweaty one.
Have you done any covers live? Not with this band.
What language do you sing in? English.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? 15.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? 20-50
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We vary.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We've played in fibber mcgees in Dublin alot so yeah there i guess.
What was your first gig like? It was a surprise birthday/gig for our drummer and it was FUN!
What was your latest gig? We played Fibbers 2 weeks ago.
Where have you played live this year? We've played 2 dates in Belgium, alot of gigs in dublin, Belfast, Drogheda and Limerick.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year?
We have a gig this thursday supporting Headless Kross in Drogheda and after that we play a dublin festival in September called perverting the inocent then another festival in Limerick called the siege of limerick.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale?
Pretty soon after our first gig, So far we have 2 different designs of tees, CDS and cassettes of our EP, patches, stickers and on the 14th of september we release a split vinyl and cd with a Belgian band called All We Expected.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? I think it has done irreversible damage to the bigger bands and labels but it's a way of being heard for everyone else and i for one have no problem with that.
What do you think of my work? It's pretty interesting a lot of good bands on the blog.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? I don't but i'm a gambling man.
Do you have any role models or idols? My parents.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? A bit of both I suppose but the more active bands come out stronger.
What have been your biggest obstacles? Real life.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Keep going and remember your doing it for you if you pick up followers along the way it's only a bonus.
How do you get psyched for a gig? Drugs, Alcohol and lots of water.
Do you have any new material? We have a split release coming out in September with a Belgian band called All We Expected and are in the process of writing for our debut album.
