interview with Necronymph

What´s the name of your band? Bordois: Necronymp.

How was the band formed? Bordois: It basically formed out of our deep rooted love for the genre that we play. We had all been listening to gothic metal and black metal for years so we decided to start a project, then it just became a thing.

Can you tell about your band? Bordois: We are a Gothic Metal band with Black Metal elements.

Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band? Bordois: I record the bass, guitars, and vocals for the songs and albums, and Zeena does vocals as well. We hire people for live shows, if we don’t have a solid member come time for a show.

What was the ambitions of the band when you started? Bordois: To make a name for ourselves. I just wanna be heard.

Could you explain your music to someone that haven't heard you? Bordois: Every song is a ritual. Listening to that song is taking part in our ritual. We are about self empowerment. Embracing the darker things in life, and opening up minds to a new world.

Where was your first gig? Zeena: Detroit Pub

Who writes your songs?/Who writes the music who writes lyrics? Bordois: I write mostly everything.

Who has the best since of humor in the band? Bordois: Zeena

What genre do you feel you are? Bordois: Gothic Metal with Black Metal Elements.

Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? Bordois: It’s a genre that I have a deep rooted love for and I am very passionate about it. Our songs are about self empowerment, and about being your own god, and embracing the darker things in life. The things most people choose to ignore.

Do you write your own material or mainly covers? Bordois: Always our own material. There are some plans to maybe do a cover or two at some point in time, but at the moment, we focus on our own material.

Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? Bordois: We just have singles out at the moment. Our first full length album is actually in the works right now.

Do you have any clips on YouTube? Bordois: Yes. Ritual is on youtube.

At what age did you start playing? Bordois: 7 Zeena: 6

How old were you guys when you first stood on stage? Bordois: 10 Zeena: 8

What year was the band started? Bordois: 2013.

Where have you played from then till now? Bordois: So far we have only played small shows. People tell us the want us to play somewhere and we go play there. Simple as that.

What has been the best/most promising gig so far? Bordois: Detroit Pub.

How big crowds do you usually play for? Bordois: Small crowds, 20 – 40 people.

What are the plans for the rest of the year? Bordois: We have our first full length album in the works right now, we are hoping to finish it pretty soon so are plans are pretty much to focus all of our energy on finishing the album.

How do you get psyched up for a gig? Bordois: Have a cigarette and play a little. There isn’t a specific thing I do before every show. I get psyched up when I see my crowd Zeena: Have a cigarette and

What are your goals with your music? Bordois: I would just like to get the name out. Zeena: To bring more attention to the Gothic Metal/Black Metal genre.

When did you decide to go all in for the music? Bordois: In the beginning. Its always been all about music. Music is my life.

Is it easier to get your inspiration from older bands or from bands more modern? Bordois: Older bands of course. Most new/modern bands are shit. No talent at all. Zeena: Older bands as well.

What are your sources of inspiration? Bordois: KISS, Slayer, Cradle of Filth, Gorgoroth, Immortal. Zeena: Nightwish, Cradle of Filth, Machine Head.

What's the first step when making a new song? Bordois: Guitar. It always starts by making a new riff. Once I come up with something new, everything else just kind of comes to me and then I create a song.

How do you feel about the downloading of music instead of buying albums? Boirdois: I Don’t think it truly makes that much of a difference. In my opinion, bands should just be happy that so many people are actually listening to their music, and if you’re good enough, then people will surely show up to see you live. Zeena: I agree, Its nice if people buy the albums, but its just as much support either way.

What would be your dreams for the band? Bordois: Just to make a name for ourselves. I wouldn’t mind playing Wacken one day either.

Besides your own music, what genres and bands do you listen to? Bordois: I listen to a lot of different genres. A lot of Gothic Metal and Black Metal of course, but Punk Rock, Gothic Rock, Thrash Metal, and Death Metal as well. I like a lot of the old stuff of course. KISS has to be my favorite band. They got me started on everything. Zeena: Gothic Metal, Black Metal, and Gothic Rock.

What do you hold most dear? Bordois: My Fiance’e, My guitars, Music, Art. Zeena: My Fiance’e, Art, My Hair.

What would be your greatest fears for the future? Bordois: Complete Failure.

When you are on stage, what do you fear most then? Bordois: Equipment difficulties, or severe mistakes. Zeena: If something were to go seriously wrong.

Have you been in any other bands? Bordois: I’ve been in - Here Cum Germs, Among Illusion, Incarcerator, and Pyrrha Levana. I am still in Incarcerator as well as Necronymph.

What do you work with outside of the band and the music? Bordois: Arts, Gaming, Movies, and Creating. Zeena: Drawing and Painting, Cooking, Cosmetics, Movies.

What would you do if there was no music? Bordois: Nothing. Zeena: I would be an artist.

How important are your fans? Bordois: Fans are everything. Every musician should always put the fans first. Without them, you have nothing. Take time to see them and thank them for supporting you. Your fans are everything.

How often do you rehearse? Bordois: As much as possible. As little as once a week, as much as five times a week.

Where do you rehearse? Bordois: My Garage.

Name 2 of your own songs you like at the moment? Bordois: ”Within the Darkest of Minds” and “Warrior Heart”

What do you feel is the best live band you've seen? Bordois: KISS. No band can even come close to giving a better live performance.

What drives a band that isn't all that famous and renowned to try to make a living on their music and to keep playing? Bordois: The passion and love for their music. Without that, what’s the point? That should be in every band. Unfortunately its not.

Do you have any webpages? Bordois: Yes. We are on Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, and Reverbnation under “Necronymph” and our official website it http://necronymph.yolasite.com You can find the links to everything there as well.

Any pearls of wisdom for all other bands out there? Bordois: Keep playing, don’t give up on what you love. If you’re good, you’ll make it.

How do you view the musicindurty of today? Bordois: The music industry today is a joke. The music of today isn’t music, it’s a group of people who think they know how to play instruments getting together and whining about how another kid called them a faggot at school so they are gonna cut themselves. That’s every band now. Its pathetic and it’s a joke. Zeena: It makes this time period look talent-less music wise. The only bands that are recognized have no talent. Music today is always based off of looks, and never off of whether or not they actually have musical talent.

What advice would you like to give other bands? Bordois: Keep playing and play what you love. Don’t play the genre that is “In” just to make it. Play what you love and if you’re good, you’ll get the recognition you deserve.

What are the biggest obstacles for a band? Bordois: Getting your name out and bringing attention to yourself. Once you get your name out, people will listen, but you gotta get it out there first. The biggest problem is not a lot of people give a shit about real metal anymore. If you’re not a emo band, chances are you’re not going anywhere.

What is best/worst with playing the clubs? Zeena: Its easier to interact with people, and it’s a good way to practice for bigger shows, but still be serious. The bad, is there is all kinds of people. Not everyone in the “audience” is gonna like what you are doing or playing.

How would you describe your sound in one sentence Bordois: Our sound is a musical ritual of gothic metal and black metal.

What is your favorite crappy instrument? Bordois: I would have to say the Fender Stratocaster.

What was one of the most quarrelsome times for you in the band? Bordois: Losing and replacing members.

Whats your Pre-show ritual? Bordois: We actually don’t have one. We all just kind of do our own thing.

Do you have anything to add? Hail Satan! Hail Thyself!
