Have any of you played in other bands? George, our guitarist is singing in a Greek Punk-Rock Band which is called “Miala Pithikou”

What are your names? / Who plays what?

We are four members, Kostas Diamandis Guitar/Singer

George ioakeimidis also Guitar/back vocals,  Xaris Kyrkos Bass-Guitar/Back vocals

And Me Dimitris Alexiou Drums/percussion/Back Vocals

How is it that you started playing music? I started playing piano when I was 8 years old and when we moved after 3 years in another location outside my home town, i suddetly found in my basement many music instruments. One of those was the drums…It did not take long to understand what I should follow after this… It was then when I started playing the drums frantically!

Have you had other previous members? You know it’s too hard to find people to understand how is it to work a lot for something you want and love so much especially when we are talking about a profession like music… Because of this we have changed members several times, most bands have the same problem all the time!

Did you make music even when you were young? I Tried to compose things in the past but not something amazing,I had to listen a little more music and have new life experiences to make something nice. You will figure it out when you listen our new album.

Where are you from? We are all from Greece and live in Athens and around!

What year did the band form? In 2011 we released the first Raw In Sect album and then we took a dynamic course with European tours and nice reviews from all over the world til now.

What's your style of genre? The band used to play progressive death thrash stuff and then tried to found its personal style with east  psychedelic influences in Blue Haze Record. This time I think it’s a good chance to present the modern Greek Music!

What inspires you? Our experiences and the evolution of things around, I could say that they have an important role for us.

How often and where do you rehearse? When there is an important reason, when we have several scheduled shows or work for new music ideas like when preparing a new album  etc…

How have you developed since you started with the music? By trying new things. If you play music with your instrument for example without anything specific in your mind and something goes wrong sometimes with the phrase you play is a way to see some things with different eyes and try new things, sounds, new equipment  to perform differently and if it sounds good to you, that’s the deal!

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Long time ago, the group is pretty much the only occupation for us!

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that?

Yes we hope to find something more interesting for this album!

If the label can spread the new record around the world with the mechanisms that they possess, it’s the beginning of a good start with it!

What made you decide to make this music? The need to create something new and be happy in the rest of our lives.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? All our songs contain compotisions and corrections from all of us, because teamwork performs better when you start building a new song. The lyrics and most of the music are wrriten from Kostas!

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? It depends on the requirements of the song, it’s not a standard procedure. We always do changes to make the song as we like!

Have you done any covers live? In the very early years we played one or two covers, but now we make the people have fun with our songs and every time it’s easier for us to do so.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? 18-40 years old mostly. Sometimes you see little kids, sometimes you see old people.

Do you have a regular place you play live often? We try to play as much as possible in European countries because it’s close to Greece but we hope to go soon in countries like Usa, Russia, Japan, Australia!

What was your first gig like? It was in a small basement-club in Athens and was pretty good for the first time with nice audience and nice local bands. Also the sound was nice!

Have you had to cancel a gig? Never. We try to be consistent with these things. The promoters cancel sometimes because they can’t handle stuff.

Where do you plan to gig the coming year? Maybe this year  we gonna book shows in central Europe when we finish the mix of the upcoming album..

what do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It’s normal for everyone who wants quick music with low quality, no one can control that, but after all there are few supporters helping the artists by buying their records and help them continue what they do!If you are a fan and you like what you hear from the artist that you prefer, you need to have your favorite record in physical form!

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? There is a reduction in sales but I think the main reason is because there in no quality musicand no gamble on something new..  That is why the people have no motivation to stop downloading music

What do you think of my work? People like you contribute to make the people know who we are and what we do and thanks for that!

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? We do not expect anything from anyone, We continue to do what we always do and whatever happens….

Do you have any role models or idols? I start listening music with a Greek Rock band  “Socrates Drank The Conium” this band is one of my favourites ever. They marked my life. John Spathas “ the guitarist “ has an amazing  grip and characteristic way when he plays. I love those guys!

What have been your biggest obstacles? To choose to do your own thing with the difficult way, if you understand what I mean… But so far it works just fine for us.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Do what they love with steadily aspirations and don’t stop dreaming!

How do you get psyched for a gig? When the crowd feels the beat of the rhythm, start dancing and singing our songs!

Do you have any new material? A month ago we start the recordings for the third Raw In Sect album and maybe will be released early of 2017.
