interview with Nukem

Have any of you played in other bands? Steve-We have all been in deferent bands through the years. Most notably recognized, Norm is a founding member of Psychotic Waltz.

How is it that you started playing music? Steve-I myself got started in highschool. Dabbled around with friends. Nothing too serious until after I got out.

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Steve Brogden- lead Guitar & Vocals

Norm Leggio- Drums

Don Lauder- Bass Guitar

Where are you from? Nukem is based out of San Diego California

What year did the band form? Nukem came together in the summer of 2012

What's your style of genre? We like the idea of being able to call ourselves Thrash Metal. Nothing other than good old fashioned Thrash at its finest! Just the way we like it \m/

What inspires you? Steve- I base a lot of my lyrics around history. I've always been fascinated with how we got to be where we are in this day and age.

How often and where do you reherse? That all depends on what we have coming up. If it's a string of shows on the horizon then we will get together 4 times a week. If we are writing then just 2 so we can all get our own homework done before presenting new ideas.

How have you developed since you started with the music? You can hear our development throughout each song. We remain ourselves yet each song is quite distinguishable from one another.

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We would love to hook up with an agent. But it would have to make sense for us. We never dive into anything just because someone talks themselves up. At the end of the day, it has to be worth it for us.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We actually just signed a deal for our debut album "The Unholy Trinity" with an awesome underground label called Sleaszy Rider Records from Greece. We are stoked because we feel with the label backing us in Europe, the album will reach the hands of people that need to hear it.

What made you decide to make this music? It's ether in you or it's not. We all came into this world with a passion for heavy music.

What are your songs about? Mostly war, End times and horror themes are common through our music.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Steve-mostly myself. I do most of the writing but we work out a lot of stuff together in the jam room.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? That all depends on what inspires me first. Some start with a riff while others start with a vocal melody.

Have you done any covers live? We have been known to bust out a thrash metal rendition of "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis from time to time and we also recorded a version of "T.V. Crimes" by the Dio era of Black Sabbath.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We like to mix it up and surprise the listener as much as possible!

Where can people buy your merchandise?

http://nukem.bigcartel.com

That's it for now but we have a lot of new stuff on its way to go with the new album!!

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It's a different time then the good old glory days of tape trading. As musicians we have to adapt with current buying trends. But that won't stop us from having our music available on CD and Vinyl. But it will be there digitally as well ;)

What do you think of my work? We think your work is awesome! The industry needs more people like yourself to thrive and not just survive. We can't thank you enough for all you do for bands like us.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Metal is like a virus. You help spread the infection. Nukem wants to infect as many people as possible so we can get out and meet you all one day.

Do you have any new material? We have 10 songs coming your way on the new record and we are already 3 songs deep for the next one! No rest for the wicked!!

What are your web sites? You can find us anywhere by typing Nukem Official
