interview with Serpents Gift

Have any of you played in other bands? The drummer, Necroblaster played in a death metal band I was involved too at its end and he has his side projects. Me, Necrolazerus, I played in a couple of bands of different stylistic approaches but all of them were metal bands. Our singer is involved in different styles of music.
How is it that you started playing music? I always wanted to get on stage and play kick ass riffs in a cool band. A naive teenager dream that came true.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? Necroblaster-drums. Necrolazerus-guitar. Mushussu - vocals and violin.
Have you had other previous members? There were two more guys on vocals prior to Mushussu who is a girl.
Where are you from? Hamburg, Deutschland
What year did the band form? Summer of 2012
What's your style of genre? Funeral of Doom and Grind
What inspires you? Other bands and cats.
How often and where do you reherse? In an old air raid shelter, pretty close to downtown Hamburg.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Definitely. FIrst our approach sounded a little bit mish-mashy, but it has developed ever since we started and became more kick-ass.
What made you decide to make this music? It had to burst out someday. My level of pissed-off-ness is well controlled by my musicals activity.
What are your songs about? Sex, annihilation, sumerian mythology, how humanity is being manipulated by interstellar entities.
Have you done any covers live? No, but a little Darkthrone was planned.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? 5 paying.  Probably 80-90 maximum.
What was your latest gig?
Another show in our home town but a different location. Not so many locations are left we did not play yet.
Have you had to cancel a gig? Yes, I was already holding tickets to the Deathcrusher Tour with Carcass, Napalm Death, Obituary and Voivod. My mates were understandably pissed but I had to do it
Where can people buy your merchandise? What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? I dont get it when people simply download a metal record. I personally need a physical copy of what I like. It is the only proper way in my eyes. Can be tape, cd or vynil, but it must exist.
Do you have any role models or idols? Kirk Hammett.
Why do you think that they exist? Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? I rip off tons of my favourite bands and they are all old school.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Dont do it if you are not into it with your heart and sincere rage.
How do you get psyched for a gig? There has always been a thrill of anticipation before every of our gigs.
Do you have any new material? Our third demo is about to be unleashed.
How can people reach you? Move your vaginas to our shows!
