interview with Lyrical Death

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, one of our guitarists, our bass player and the drummer played in several other hardrock, metal, punk rock bands but they don`t exist anymore. Our bass player also plays in a hardrock band called Jungle of Suburbia.
How is it that you started playing music? Well everyone had it`s individual reasons, but the main reason is probably always the same. You hear all this beautiful music around you and want to create something that`s as impressive as this. Beside this of course the challenge being able to play something that`s technical hard is also a big motivation to start. Before you start you hear something that sounds impossible to play. After a long time of practise you`re finally able to play it but then you see something else that`s even harder to play. And this stays the same forever.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
This is Lyrical Death:
Jakob - vocals - 22
Tobias - guitar - 24
Tobias - guitar - 26
Manu - bass - 23
Daniel - drums - 25
Have you had other previous members? Yes, through the years we changed our drummer and one guitar player. Sometimes the interests of the members change and go in different directions. that`s always bad, because every band member is a also a close friend.
Did you make music even when you were young? Yes, most of us started playing music, when we`re young. Often with an other instrument as we`re playing now.
Where are you from? We are from Germany / bavaria. We live quite spreaded around but our centre for the band is Erding, near munich.
What year did the band form? The band was at first started by the first two guitarists and in august 2010 we were complete for the first time.
What's your style of genre? We play straight metalcore, maybe a little harder then usual.
What inspires you? The first inspirations when we started were the big metalcore bands just like Parkway Drive and so on. Through the years this changed we were influenced by more bands and genres. Not only metalcore anymore, but also Nu metal, progressive stuff and djent.
How often and where do you reherse? we meet once per week. That`s not often but it`s quite heavy to get all guys together.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Our music changed a lot from the beginning until now. We got faster and our riff and song structure become more tricky and complex. Also our tuning became deeper and depper.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yes, most of our band members do some kind of sport, just like training at the gym or marterial arts. Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Yes we are, because the organisation of gigs takes so much time and effort, it`s crazy.  A booking agency with a lot of contacts would be a great help.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? In our... let`s say level a label probably isn`t necessary. Maybe when we`re bigger and more well known.
What made you decide to make this music? This was probably because we were hooked by this huge metalcore hype and it`s a great genre with a lot of fasettes.
What are your songs about? Mostly about the process of becomeing an adult and the change of situations in life.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? The riffs are written by our guitarist and together we put them into place, so it becomes a song. Most of the lyrics are written by our bass player.
What language do you sing in? Only in english.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? Mostly people who are the same age as we are.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We got a fixed set. All songs from our EP.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We often play in a location called Sonic in Erding, where our pracise room is located.
What was your first gig like? Probably not the best but real fun :D
What was your latest gig? A small gig with all bands, that practise at the Sonic.
Have you had to cancel a gig? Yes, because of sickness. That sucks.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We want to play in several big cities around Germany.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Well as long as it`s a legal download and the artists get their money it`s a good thing. Time of cd`s is over and if the packaging for the records doesn`t have to be produced it`s also good for the environment.
What do you think of my work? It`s great, there are people like you, who take their time to support also small bands!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Well nowdays it`s all about attention in social media plattforms and this interview is also a great possibility to get this.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Of course there are a lot of old bands, who create amazing music which inspires us. But nowdays there are so many bands who create so weird and crazy stuff, it`s awesome! Things you wouldn`t think about. There you get a lot of great ideas.
Do you have any new material? At the moment we`re working on new songs. In the next weeks they will be finished.
What are your web sites? We only work with Facebook and Youtube. Most people don`t take time to check extra websites.
How can people reach you? The best way to contact us is to write us on facebook.
What are your plans for the future? Right now we focus on organizing gigs and getting more contacts to different locations around Germany. So we can play more gigs in different locations. And beside this we`re working on new stuff to go back to recording by time.
Do you have something to add? Yes. Thank you for contacting us, Give us this possibility and supporting us! You are awesome!
