interview with Unison Theory

Have any of you played in other bands?  At the moment, no. Only Unison Theory for us. 

How is it that you started playing music? It’s a long story. All of us started playing music at childhood age.  

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Omar Mohamed – Guitar – 31 yo / Simone Tempesta – Drums – 25 yo / Giulio Rimoli – Bass – 25 yo  

Have you had other previous members? Oh yes, a list of ex-members J  

Did you make music even when you were young? Oh yes. Simone have played with Slaughter Denial, a death/thrash project disbanded in 2013. Omar plays with Unison Theory before the last lineup from 2011, he’s the founder of the band. Giulio have played with Black Therapy some years ago.  

Where are you from? Rome, Italy.  

What year did the band form? 2011 but with another members in lineup. 

 Do you have other interests of work outside the band? We have other works, first. Omar is a gym instructor; Simone build recording studio desks in his company Comel Audio, Giulio studies law.  

What are your songs about? Our songs speaks about a novel of James Rollins called “Ice Hunt”. 

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics?  The main composer of our music is Omar Mohamed. The lyrics in our debut album “Arctos” is work of our previous vocalist Alexander Startsev. The concept of the album was elaborate by Simone Tempesta about a novel by James Rollins.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? First music then lyrics. 

What language do you sing in? English, of course. 

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? Generally we play all the album’ songs. 

What was your latest gig? Dnipro, Ukraine. 

Where have you played live this year? Oh yeah! Ukraine Tour almost a month ago and other concerts here in Italy. 

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? In northen Italy, Swiss and France with Deceptionist, maybe. 

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We have for sale three different t-shirt designs and our debut album “Arctos” on our official Big Cartel page. 

Where can people buy your merchandise? Big Cartel, Facebook marketplace, iTunes and so on… 

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? I think that apps like Spotify or Deezer are a good way to listen and support digital music in these days. Buying records is very rare but there are people out there that buy records and there are great people for sure. 

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? It’s not easy but it’s very important for grown as a band. 

What have been your biggest obstacles? People that listen shit! 

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Invest in your dreams and play more as possible.  

Do you have any new material?

Yes, we have three new songs for an EP that will be out maybe in first months of next year. More or less.  What are your web sites?
