interview with Stonecladen

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, collectively Stonecladen has been played in Photographers in
motion, Freeze Frame, PGJR, RussNOut, Eddie's Garden, Tender Member, Banana Hammocks and Sweaters, My Moms Basement, and a few other lternative projects most have not heard of.
How is it that you started playing music?
Wendall - got bored in a dark room and picked up a guitar
Steve - Sold a cheap car for a kick ass bass
Blaze - Was born with the gift
Johan - Once traded his professional stylist services for a drum
lesson when he was younger
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Stevie Bandrum - Bass
Blaze - Lead Guitar and Vocals
Wendall Davis - Rhythm Guitar and Backup Vocals
Johan - Drums (He is also official stylist for band)

Did you make music even when you were young? Yes, some would say music was made in the womb
Where are you from? Mostly the Chicagoland area
What year did the band form? 2017
What's your style of genre? Heavy Elevator
What inspires you? Mostly Elves, fucking rock and roll, Rod Stewart, Ween, Phish, Floyd, Grateful Dead, Metallica, System Of A Down, half-naked women, Metal, Pipers At The Gates of Dawn.
How often and where do you rehearse? 1-2 times a week, but I can not disclose a location due to legal issues
How have you developed since you started with the music? We’ve developed the first rock opera about Elves, wizards, and magical beasts. It started with random jams and eventually turned into the greatest rock opera of all time.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Blaze has no job. He lives with his Grandma in the basement, and likes to help her knit when not practicing guitar. Wendall is a photo developer, old-school #darkroomlife. Johann, I think we mentioned is a stylist, and Stevie sells used cars.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We are a DIY group but we are looking for a booking agency, manager, attorney, record-label, and lots of mechanical royalties.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We were thinking of buying a labeler machine to get more organized. (Just joking!)  Hells yeah we want to get signed!
What are your songs about? Elves and crazy rock n rolllll ….man
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Blaze writes lyrics, Wendall composes, then the magic happens.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Totally the music. Always the music.
Do you compose in a certain environment? Thoughts and creativity happen anywhere at anytime, usually at the most inconvenient times (typical).
What language do you sing in? English but sometimes Blaze has a Scottish accent (he’s not really that Scottish).
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Oh boy… at least 5 people, maybe 60, maybe 12. Depends on the birthday party.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? This is for adults. Children can rock out as long as they have noise cancelling headphones on. However, we shall be creating a G-rated version of our opera in an ambitious attempt to compete with Yo Gabba Gabba, and Kevin’s Infinite Possibilities.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We have a large variety of originals we play.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We play often a little place we like to call The Cabin. It’s aninvitation only event.
What was your first gig like? A very Magical experience….
What was your latest gig? Very large house party in Lansing, IL
Have you had to cancel a gig? Never!
Where have you played live this year? The Cabin, and various birthday parties.
Where do you plan to gig the coming year? October 26th at The Elbo Room in Chicago, plus multiple other places once we get around to booking more shows. #BookingAgent
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Personally we are cool with it. Records are always cooler, but anyway to get the music out there is sweet. Blaze is a bit of an audiophile,,, likes vinyl better, but can’t afford a record-player so...
What do you think of my work? We think your work is awesome!!! Helping new bands get recognition is great. Wish there were more journalist like yourself!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Getting our name out to the public is essential. Any bit of publicity, good or bad, is a positive for Stonecladen (or any artist for that matter).
What have been your biggest obstacles? Definitely Blaze. He is a damn drama queen and needs to grow a set, but we still love him.
How do you get psyched for a gig? Certainly not drugs.
Do you have any new material? Material is constantly flowing through our brains and we have about 2-3 albums worth of material, plus years of back-catalogs to draw from on top of that.
What are your web sites?
www.reverbnation.com/stonecladen6
www.facebook.com/stonecladen
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwpcdSoaVPae5-if9BQ_Vjg/featured
How can people reach you? www.facebook.com/stonecladen
What are your plans for the future? Rocking the Fuck out. The fuck out of what? Growing and becoming mainstream.
Do you have something to add? We are an incredible band pioneering a new brand of music with gripping and interesting lyrics. Thank you for your interest in us. We appreciate the spreading of Stonecladen.
