interview with Hegony
Have any of you played in other bands?
All of Hegony Members had an experience in other underground, local Bands. To mentioned only few of them from last 10 years:
ScarFlesh – death metal
Murk – black metal project
PhosPhoros – black metal
Helion, Blord, Goliat, Dementia, Etherdrown
Right now all of we 100% focused on Hegony.
How is it that you started playing music? Originator of Hegony is Herr (Guitars), at 2nd half of 2017, after couple of years of stagnation He decided to start all over again and to re-launch own death metal art. Having lots of discussion with fellas from local underground stage after few months of rehearsals, Hegony became a living being. From gathering of individuals we’re currently one organism.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Herr – Guitars
Kheram – Bass
Legion – Drums
Ogre – vocals
Average age within band is 35.
Have you had other previous members?
One of guys around March 2018 decided to left Hegony and join Lilla Veneda.
For now it’s only change within band members.
Did you make music even when you were young? None of us is a newbie on metal underground or stage. Most part of Hegony members started their journey as a musicians in mid or late 90’, so yes – almost from the beginning of living with metal music we’re also a creators not only listeners. I think is a natural way….if you still searching of other sounds within metal stage, you met a moment when you decide to start smithing own noise
Where are you from? Home town of Hegony is Wrocław, Poland
What year did the band form? Hegony is a quite new creature – formed in December 2017.
What's your style of genre? Death Metal with Gore themes influences.
What inspires you? Take a look on our texts, listen our music placed on e.g. bandcamp profile – what’s your feelings? If you will find a mixture of murders, tortures, bestiality, covered by sauce of ooz and blood, served with tons of specific old-school death metal sounds with a little modern rythms – you will get the correct answer.
How often and where do you reherse? Depends on situation – once or twice per week.
How have you developed since you started with the music? All the time from the beginning Hegony as a band - it’s a continuously progress in composing, vocals, drums……we’re not crossing known barriers, we’re not the band which are trying to create a fusion, Hegony is still in the same Death metal frame, but personally of for all of us is the path of stepping throught the edges and trying to acheive something more brutal, more suitable for our visions – and share this to the world, to Metal Maniacs.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that?
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that?
Yes – we’re ready to go with Hegony to label which could be interested to share our vision of Death Metal to wider publics (wider, I means, not only in local scope).
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics?
Herr (guitars) – is a source of ideas for all tracks so far
Ogre (vocals) – is an lyrics author
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? First part of music creation process are guitar riffs – mostly we got 4 guitar tracks prepared, then they’re suited with drums rythms and bass section. Having guitars ready, Ogre starts to share sick visions to the rest of Band and writing lyrics.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? No, we don’t. If you have a head full of riffs, which are just waiting to release and wanted to be transferred on sounds, you don’t need to have any “special environment”. Having a couple of hours of free time, you’re just sitting and recording the tracks, filling in the gaps among wanted result. It’s a hunger of creation, a lust of transferring the toughts into devastating music – no matter if we’re talking about guitars, bass or drums – for now it’s natural process. And we hope it will stay for years…The same with lyrics -first draft of sounds brings a story, which after wordsmithing creates a phrases ready to combined with music.
Have you done any covers live? No – currently we’re focused on own material, not feeling the need to make a covers.
What language do you sing in? It’s English – but originally words are written in our native – in polish.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year?
Currently we had booked two dated for next couple of months:
January 11th 2019 – in Liverpool Club, Wrocław, Poland with Necropsy, Fatalist, and Nabuchodonosor (link needed)
February 23rd 2019 – in Alive Club, Wrocław, Poland as a part of Deadfest II, with Porky Vagina [PL]Pray for Pain [AT] Ejakuljici Kokos [CZ] Astarot [PL] Devouring Oblivion [PL]
But if there will be a chance to play somewhere else – we’re open for contact and proposals.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?
Depends who from the Band you’ll ask you’ll get different answers.
The thing is that if any of us will get or hear a music (98% is a Metal Music) which is inducing a chills – it’s shared to the others. No matter how old is the band or artist or how long is active on stage – it could bring an inspiration to all of us.
