Jonny: Being able to play different instruments in various genres has helped me appreciate and open my mind to a world i never would've otherwise known.

Ray: Ditto
Do you have other interests of work outside the band?

Jonny: I'd be interested in producing, any interest of mine would still be in the realm of music

Ray: Nope. Music is a way of life

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Jonny: not necessarily opposed to it. it would definitely relieve a bit of the workload

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Jonny: I think, like most bands, labels are fine as long as they don't try to take away our identity as musicians and let our creativity flow how we see fit.

What made you decide to make this music? Jonny: My eagerness to learn about other genres.

What are your songs about? Ray: Our singer Craig dives deeply on a  personal level for the lyrics, as for the music, I let the music flow as it does, and we work on it as we go.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Jonny: Our singer, Craig writes his own lyrics.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music

Do you compose in a certain Environment? Ray: I usually compose music in my home studio in logic as demos, bring the ideas to the band, and we go from there. Some ideas fly, some don't

What language do you sing in? Sanskrit and Latin.... Lol, english

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? probably 7 - 140

What ages are most of your concert attendants? 19 - 40

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? Jonny: We try to vary, but it usually takes us awhile to write new material just due to timing and having regular day jobs.

Do you have a regular place you play live often? Jonny: used to be a place called Studio on Granville, but unfortunately, like many places in Vancouver, they will no longer host our kind

What was your first gig like? Ray: Was a long time coming due to new members, but pretty good overall. This definitely wasn't any one of us's first show

What was your latest gig? Ray: We played the Roxy in downtown Vancouver, it was filmed for a college students project bur was not our best show due to our singer Craig's hernia bursting...totally metal lol.

Have you had to cancel a gig? Jonny: Not yet, Thankfully

Where have you played live this year? Jonny: Just clubs/pubs around Vancouver. The usual downtown circut

What do you plan to gig the coming year? Jonny: Hopefully in other areas of Canada, and ideally other parts of the world. will depend on how or EP is received.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Ray: About 4 shows in, thus far our bands t-shirts

Where can people buy your merchandise? Ray: PM on facebook or at our shows https://www.facebook.com/porcelainskyband/
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Jonny: I think it's fine as long as people are willing to support artists in other way. I still enjoy buying physical copies

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this?

Jonny: I think it has worked out in a lot of ways, allowing more outreach in some ways by not forcing everyone to buy a full album just because they liked one song

Ray: Im on both sides. As long as people subscribe to streaming sites like ITunes Music, Spotify, etc etc and following or listening on a regular basis, everyone wins

What do you think of my work? Ray: I think jobs like your are a benefit to artists everywhere

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Jonny: it will help spread the word.

Do you have any role models or idols?
Jonny: I think we would all have a different answer for this, but i'd say people Matt Gartska, Gavin Harrison, Radiohead, Deftones, the list could go on.

Ray: Definitely... Adam Jones, Jeff Martin, Dave Mustain, Jerry Cantrell, Joe Satriani... the list goes on
Why do you think that they exist?

Jonny: Their parents had sex.

Ray: Lol! yup. Right place right time
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?

Jonny: For me, it's bands that are more active today. it gives me hope as a new band.

Ray: Both. More active lately, even new albums from old artists are amazing
What have been your biggest obstacles? Ray: Dealing with 3 other personalities lol... also the lack thereof of good venues to play

What advice would you give other bands or artists?

Jonny: while we must enjoy creating and the fun part of music, make sure you also make time for the boring businessy stuff too, and try to spread out the workflow.
Ray: Go out and support the local scene as it takes all of us to help the arts out
How do you get psyched for a gig?

Jonny: Not listening to metal before the gig. Don't ask why, it just works for some reason.
