interview with Line Of Tension

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, we have played before in another band projects, but now we're just working toguether in Line Of tension
How is it that you started playing music? we have diffrent stories, but if you are asking about how Line Of Tension started to play music, all we can say is that we were trying to escape all that bad things we've been through for a long time, so we choose music to do it.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Missael R. Reyes (23 years old) - Rythm Guitar & vocals
Alex S. Beltrán  (27 years old) - Drums & vocals
Hassam Marmolejo (27 years old) - Lead Guitar
Jonathan Flores (22 years old) - Bass
Have you had other previous members?
Yes we had, in the beginning. 

Did you make music even when you were young? Yes, we've been creating music for years in another projects or even on our own.

Where are you from? we´re from Guadalajara City, México.

What year did the band form? Line of tension was formed in 2016 

What's your style of genre? Thrashcore/metalcore with progressive influences

What inspires you? We are inspired to reach people who feel dentified with our music and our content, we want people to feel what we are expressing and give'em sensations that we can feel too.

How often and where do you reherse? We reherse every weak, and we like to try diffrent places to do it, to experience diffrent sounds. 

How have you developed since you started with the music? we have developed well, we think we move the right step, in the beginning we used to play uncoordinated, the sound of the band was improving over time, but now we sound well and we're still getting better

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yeah, each one of us studies a university degree, we have independent plans beyond the ban. But we work the band with priority. 

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Yes, we think we can get great opportunities working together with other people sharing our interests.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Yes, as the last question we answered, we think we can do great things working with more people.

What made you decide to make this music? ur problems, our feelings, we like to write about real things, we write about the problems that surround us, we turn our feelings, emotions and problems into music, we think music must have a reason to exist, not just write it without a feeling behind the chords or lyrics.

What are your songs about? The songs we play now are about instrospection, we are writing about the problems of inside majorly. But we have also songs about love, or even a song with its own story.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? We do compose together, but lyrics ar majorly written by Missael.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? We work in both ways.

Do you compose in a certain inviroment? No.

Have you done any covers live? Yes, mostly "Stranded" by Gojira.

What language do you sing in? English

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Honestly we don't know how to answer this question.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? We have noticed that people who to our shows are mostly around our age.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We try to do vary.

What was your first gig like? It was good, even being that nervous, we played well and people liked it 

What was your latest gig? Actually very good, now a little more people knows the project and it always feels very cool to play with old and new people 

Have you had to cancel a gig? Never.

Where have you played live this year? Mostly in Guadalajara, we've played in diffrent shows inside the city, but we have visit Mexico City and Autlán de Navarro and a few more places recently. 

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We're planning to go on tour all around the country after we release our first album at late 2018.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We started last year, we have t-shirts and hats for sale mostly.

Where can people buy your merchandise? Directly with the band, and in our Facebook page.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? We think both ways are awesome, people can get a record and collect it, or hear it at the car, but they can have the album in their Ipod or cellphone, so they can acces their favorite music in diffrent ways. It's kinda cool.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? We think it changed notoriusly, maybe it has reduced the selling of records a little, because of digital plataforms.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? We think that maybe it will help us mainly for you to know us and our band, and maybe to other people to know us as well.

Do you have any role models or idols? Yes.

Why do you think that they exist? Maybe because of their unique style and music, and their efforts to reach their places in music world. But mostly because of people who like their music.

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? We think it depends of the perception of each person.

What have been your biggest obstacles?

This is a very good question, mainly the fact of create real original music, we worked very hard in each one of our songs and it's been a huge obstacle to finish them, but once we have the finished song we feel great, and satisfied after our work.
Another obstacle has been to learn to be a band and not just musicians and now that we work as a band, things are quite better.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? work hard and don't be conformist, follow your way and make music with your experiencie emnodied into your songs.

How do you get psyched for a gig? We still tremble on stage, that's the better way to explain it, it's very exiting so we prepare for it the best we can before getting on stage, so we can give the best.

Do you have any new material? Yes we're working on it.
