Alexandre Castellan - Vocal/Guitar
Braulio Drumond - Drums
Elvis Damigo - Guitar
Ricardo Amorim - Bass
Have you had other previous members?
Yes. Kevin Talley who already played with Suffocation, Six Feet Under, Chimaira and many other bands recorded the drums on our album In Chaos We Trust.
We also had Hugo Machado on bass.
Where are you from?
We are from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
What year did the band form?
Siriun was formed in 2014.
What's your style of genre?
We play Metal. But within metal we make a mix of Thrash, Death, Groove and Progressive Metal.

What inspires you? Life itself is already a great inspiration!  The fact that we are alive in this magnificent and mysterious world is enough to inspire us to do anything!

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yes, we all have our day jobs. But nothing that is worth mentioning.

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Sure we do! We are looking to tour in Europe and United States. We're trying to make some contacts and just waiting for the right opportunity to appear.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that?

Yes! We are looking for a label that can partner with us and help us to spread our names out there.
We know that the industry has changed and we don't have the illusion of having a large financial income from a label, but we do recognize that the marketing and contacts they can provide us are still very important.
What are your songs about?
Our songs speaks about human existential issues, from social issues, through the exploration of the human psyche, and goes beyond talking about the overcoming of the ordinary mind reaching a higher level of consciousness.
The inspirations range from authors like Carl Jung, Carlos Castaneda, Gurdjeff, to Greek philosophers, hermeticism, quantum physics and oriental philosophies.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics?
I (Alexandre) wrote everything on the first album. In the next, everyone will have more participation.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics?
We always start with the music, then we format the lyrics according to the melody we created.
Do you compose in a certain enviroment?
Mostly at home.
Have you done any covers live? Yes, we've already played Decapitated, Vader and Sepultura covers.
What language do you sing in? We sing in English.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary?
We tend to vary some songs, but the core is usually the same, which is the basis of our album "In Chaos We Trust".
What was your first gig like?

On our first gig we opened for Krisiun. It was amazing!
Playing with one of the biggest Brazilian metal bands and one of our great inspirations on our first gig was awesome!
What was your latest gig?

Our last gig was opening for Nervosa, one of the greatest new Brazilian metal bands.
We were very pleased because it was one of our tightest performances and the audience was very receptive.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We plan to tour Europe and United States. Nothing confimed yet.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We have our album and shirts available on our shows.
Where can people buy your merchandise? People can buy our album on our bandcamp (https://siriun.bandcamp.com)
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days?
I believe that this download movement has decreased a lot with the advent of the streaming services.
But in metal mostly, downloading music instead of buying records, had a huge impact on bands, that now only make money with shows.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? The bands now have to tour endlessly if they want to make some money and record labels now function more as promoters most of the time.
What do you think of my work? We appreciate a lot, and we are very thankful for having us!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? All interview and publicity is very well received. And we hope some readers will be interested and will discover our music!
Do you have any role models or idols? Sure. We all have idols!  From classical composers to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Megadeth, Slayer to Gojira, Lamb of God. There are too many to mention!

Why do you think that they exist? Because they permeate our unconscious since we realize their existence as great personalities! They are archetypes of heroes for humanity. And they are at a stage of the journey, which we have not yet reached and we want to get there.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? We find inspiration in all of them. The older ones are already in our unconscious, so it's something that comes naturally when we're composing. The new ones always help to guide us to an unexplored side.
What have been your biggest obstacles?
Living in Brazil and playing metal is our biggest obstacle. Because we are far from where the industry is, and it costs a lot of effort and money to go 'where things happen'.
What advice would you give other bands or artists?
Be honest with yourself and make a sound that represents your essence. Do not be a copycat, music must always be reinvented. Embrace that and go ahead!
Do you have any new material?
Yes, we are working hardly on our second album!
