Have any of you played in other bands? Yes and we still play in other bands: Michele Guaitoli, voice, plays i Vision Of Atlantis, Temperance and Kaledon, me (Marco Cardona) and Alessandro Galliera, guitars, in Krampus, Giorgio Terenziani, bass, in Arthemis and Living Theory and Paolo Crimi, drums in Beerbong.
How is it that you started playing music? Just pure passion for… Guns & Roses: i wanted to be like Slash!
Have you had other previous members? No, this is a brand new project
Did you make music even when you were young? I personally always spent a lot of time writing music, and i also recorded 2 instrumental albums (Marco)
Where are you from? Italy
What year did the band form? We started working together in 2016
What's your style of genre? We could say modern metal, because there are so many influences that it’s pretty difficult to be more specific…
What inspires you? It depends: sometime feelings… sometimes just noodling on guitar….
How often and where do you reherse? Not very often to be honest, at least not until we will start working on some live show...
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Not for now
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We already have a great label, called Punishment18 Records, and we still think that having a label could make some difference, even today, with a very difficult situation in the music industry…
What made you decide to make this music? (Marco) Again: Guns & Roses! The first time i’ve heard Appetite For Destruction i thought that i wanted to be a musician!
What are your songs about? Well when we finished working on lyrics, it came out that the most of them were talking about a different paradox, in some different aspect of our lives, so we came out with the title The Paradox for the record and the name Ship Of Theseus, which is a philosophical paradox, for the name of the band…
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Mostly me (Marco)
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music, totally… i think about lyrics only when the song is totally ready… it’s like lyrics came spontaneously after music…
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Nope… I just need to be inspired…
Have you done any covers live? Not yet with this band…
What language do you sing in? English
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Since we never gigged as Ship Of Theseus, i should say… zero! But with our other bands each of us has done several tours…
What was your first gig like? I was very nervous, i was playing about 3 or 4 covers with the high school band, but i have to say that everything went great, so i kept playing and studying music….
What was your latest gig? Pretty cool! It was a jam session in my home town!
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We will start working on merch after the release of the record, on march 29th!
Where can people buy your merchandise? Will be available trough our Facebook page!
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? This is obviously a very bad habit, because musicians have to spend lots of money for buying their instruments and for recording (at least, the most of them: at
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? There is much less money, form every point of view… so, less money for the bands when they have to record their music, less money in contracts, royalties etc. and, in the end, being a musician it’s a kind of job that very rarely pays your bills…
What do you think of my work? You’re doing great, keep following your passion for music!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Well, probably in letting some new possible fan that there is a cool new band which is releasing some cool music that could be interesting to listen at now! :-)
Do you have any role models or idols? Not really!
Why do you think that they exist? Because of the extreme passion of someone….
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Be yourself, be bold, believe in your music and don’t ever think that this will be a job… It might be, in the future, but it’s a wrong motivation: play just because you feel that there is nothing else you want to do!
