interview with The Cult Classics

Have any of you played in other bands?We have all been in the band Pavlove just at different times. And some members have been in other bands before Pavlove.
How is it that you started playing music? 
Preston: looking for a different means of expression. Found my grandfathers guitar in the closet and played with that for a couple years.
Evan: I wanted a set of drums when I was 9. Played those for a few years in my dads band, then joined The Cult Classics. Nate was already the drummer so I had to play bass. 
Erik: I started playing music because of my brother around the age of 8.
Nate: My uncle plays drums and that’s what made me wanna learn them. I got my first set around 10. And I couldn’t learn guitar so I stuck with this. 
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? 
Preston: Age 24, I play guitar, sing and write all the songs.
Evan: Age 21, I play bass.
Erik: Age 23, I play guitar.
Nate: Age 23, I play drums.
Have you had other previous members? No, but shouts to Lil Ricky
Where are you from? All around Asheboro, NC. Except Erik, he’s from up north.
What year did the band form? 2017
What's your style of genre? “Shitrock”/Hard Rock/Pop Rock
What inspires you? Putting the balls back in Rock music. 
How often and where do you reherse? At least once a week at Preston’s house.
How have you developed since you started with the music? We’ve developed an acute anxiety and fear of stringed instruments.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Bee keeper, marathon, stay at home mom, mediocre bar owner.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Possibly, if the right one comes along.
What made you decide to make this music? We’re just tired of the same ole same ole. We liked the music we were making and we thought people might too. Evan: I just enjoy chilling with my homies. 
What are your songs about? About being a degenerate.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? We all compose the music, but Preston writes all the lyrics.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music most of the time. Cause the music usually starts 15 minutes beforehand.
Have you done any covers live? Yes, plenty. Taylor Swift is always a hit. 
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? We don’t know the most, but the least was legit nobody.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? 0-100
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We vary 
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We’ve played the Grievous Gallery a few times recently, which is cool. We love that place. If you’re ever in Salisbury, NC definitely check it out.
What was your first gig like? It was pretty good, played our first show was on Cinco de Mayo 2017.
What was your latest gig? Our album release at the Grievous Gallery on February 9th.
Have you had to cancel a gig? We try to stay committed.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? More in Raleigh-triad area of NC.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Like 2 years ago with our first batch of t-shirts and some stickers.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? I think it’s fine, as long as you’re listening to the music and giving it a chance. It’s just a sign of the times. 
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? You don’t need a label anymore, you can seriously do it on your own if you just give it your best shot.
What do you think of my work? We aren’t familiar, but we are enjoying answering these questions. 
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Any publicity is good publicity.
What have been your biggest obstacles? Preston got busted for selling weed twice. 
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Don’t sell weed.
How do you get psyched for a gig? Couple beers and a CBD joint.
Do you have any new material? Yes, we have a whole new album lined up with all songs finished.
