Have any of you played in other bands? Matt, Martin and Florian used to play in Chaosreign while Christoph still thrashes the drums for Preterior. Me, Christian, was formerly singer of Breßack.
How is it that you started playing music? Don´t really remember as music was always an important part of my life.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? Infected Chaos consists of the two guitarists Matt and Martin. Florian plays bass, Christoph is our drummer and I am the vocalist Christian.
Have you had other previous members? No. This is the founding line-up of Infected Chaos
Did you make music even when you were young? Can only talk for myself here. I started playing the drums when I was 14 and headed for the front of the stage in my mid-twenties.
Where are you from? We´re from Northern Austria and Southern Germany, directly from the Alps.
What year did the band form? Infected Chaos was founded in summer 2013.
What's your style of genre? Straight to your face Death Metal!
What inspires you? My lyrics are inspired by everyday life. You just have to watch the news. There´s a lot of trouble in this world we live in.
How often and where do you reherse? We usually meet a few weeks before a gig and rehearse intensivelly, as we are not from the same town.
How have you developed since you started with the music? As we just released our debut album recently our journey has just begun. Let´s see what happens. Just let the metal flow.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We were signed by MetalMusic Austria and are very content. It helps alot spreading our tunes.
What made you decide to make this music? Just the love to Death Metal.
What are your songs about? Our Debutalbum “The Wake of Ares” mostly deals with suppression of the people by a so called elite. Greed is reigning this world and mankind is exploited for the benefits of a few people.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? The music is mainly composed by Matt and Martin. I write the lyrics and the songs are arranged by the whole band. So every single member is important and we would not sound like we sound, if not everybody had input.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? They develop independent from each other.
Have you done any covers live? We did the alltime classic “Dreaming in Red” by Dismember a couple of times.
What language do you sing in? All in English so far.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Least were about 20, including the other two bands playing there and most were about 180 when we released our debut.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? I don´t really know and also don´t care, to be honest. Everyone freaking out is welcome to our shows.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? As we´re still a rather young band we´re just promoting our debut at the moment. But we´re working on new songs at the moment.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? No. We don´t have something like a club scene where we live.
What was your first gig like? Very cool. We opened for Ruler from italy and Evil Invaders from Belgium which was a rather unorthodox billing... But who cares? Metal to the bone. Unfortunatelly the audience was very small. But we had fun anyway.
What was your latest gig? We played a local festival called Aaargh! Good show, good venue, good audience.
Have you had to cancel a gig? No. Hopefully we can keep that up.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? Don´t know yet. Hopefully we can destroy some festivals.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Just in spring of this year. We got shirts and our debutalbum on CD
Where can people buy your merchandise? The CD can be purchased via our facebook-account www.facebook.com/InfectedChaos or our email Infected-Chaos@gmx.at. You can also get it directly from our label´s shop http://www.metalmusic.at/shop
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? I think that´s a big problem for every artist if illegally downloaded. It simply costs a lot of money to produce a record. From recordings to artwork to the final product. Don´t get me wrong, we´re definitelly NOT doing this for money but it would help if the costs could be payed. “Stealing” from a band will finally kill it. If somebody feels fine consuming his music only as files it´s ok for me. But I prefer the complete product including artwork and booklet.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? It´s getting more and more difficult to sell records so bands try to cover their costs by increasing their merchandise prices. But I don´t know if this will work in the long term. Also playing live becomes more and more important but who can afford attending to all gigs? This is a very complicated issue.
What do you think of my work?
Thanks for giving us a chance to present us on your platform!
I deeply admire the effort you put into this. The underground needs people like you that give us a voice! Cheers to you!!!!
Do you have any role models or idols? Each of us is definitelly inspired by some musicians but to call them idols would be too big.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? It depends. Especially the German Death Metal underground is very active and creative these days. The power that´s set free by this is very inspiring.
What have been your biggest obstacles? The first label we were signed by, went bankrupt and for a long time we tried to reach the owners to get information how to go on. We have had no success until today. That sucks.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Just believe in yourself, work hard for your music and enjoy the thing you do.
How do you get psyched for a gig? We got no special ritual for that. Just warming up, talking bullshit to the other band mebers... things like that.
Do you have any new material? We´re currently working on it.
What are your web sites?
How can people reach you? On facebook or via email to Infected-Chaos@gmx.at
What are your plans for the future? We plan to release our second album somewhen in 2016. And we want to play live as much as possible. No matter where!
