interview with iAROSS
Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, we have many groups beside Iaross, we think it is necessary for the wealth of the band and to refresh our ears !
How is it that you started playing music? We three both have a high studies in french music academies , music is a long time passion.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? So there is Julien Grégoire // Drums and laptop, Colin Vincent // Guitars and keyboards, And Nicolas Iarossi // Singer, Cellist and bassist
Have you had other previous members? Yes, Julien recently replaced the first drummer of the band, Germain Lebot who came back to his homeland (the Reunion Island)
Did you make music even when you were young? Yes for mostly of us, we began to build different bands.
Where are you from? We come from Montpellier (France)
What year did the band form? Nicolas Iarossi began the group solo in 2008.
What's your style of genre? We make a fusion music with many influences, with French lyrics.
What inspires you? To me, it is often society and the environment where i live or travel, i need to be witness and giver.
How often and where do you reherse? Mostly 4 times a month.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We have a French and a Swiss booking agency, but we are allways expecting a label to produce our future records , and why not a tour booker in other countries !!!
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Myself, Nicolas Iarossi
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? My writing process needs some music to write lyrics, so i first compose a gimmick who gives me some starting point.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? We compose in the drummer's basement ! a bit grunge as environment !!!
Have you done any covers live? Yes, we recently covered a Leo Ferré' song called " La mémoire et la me.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? The least is zero, and most we are, more we feast !
What ages are most of your concert attendants? Womens between 25 and 35 years old (lol) ! no, we are gonna say people between 25 and 60 years old.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We are beginning to have a huge songbook so it is easy to vary , so we can be allways fresh !
What was your first gig like? The first concert was in a small bar in a village called Le Vigan
What was your latest gig? We played in a cave, the subterranean lake of St Leonard in Switzerland.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We are seeling merchandizing since the beginning of the band : Tshirts and CD's people can buy it on internet easily .
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It is killing music , but that's not the people fault, the matter is the payoff of the artists whitch is in game. There is also the problem of the way to listen music: sit and listen a vinyl record is not the same thing than zap on deezer !
