interview with Larrikino

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes we still do right now. Tony the drummer plays bass guitar in an alternative metal band, Roy the bass player plays guitar in a blues band and Chuy plays guitar in lots of other bands that make stoner, sludge but also covers! So we kinda come from the same style of music but different bands.

How is it that you started playing music? The 3 of us decided to go to Desertfest, a stoner rock festival in Belgium 2016. After having a good time and hearing all these kinds of stoner bands we thought to give it a try as well and form a band. And we must say that worked out pretty well haha!

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Tony, 25 years old on drums

Roy, 25 years old on bass guitar

Chuy, 25 years old on Guitar.

Have you had other previous members? Nope, not planning to either!

Did you make music even when you were young? I think we al picked up the guitar when we were a teenager yeah. Some sticked with it and some started picking up more instruments later in their life.

Where are you from? The Netherlands.

What year did the band form? 2016

What's your style of genre? Stoner rock / Blues rock

What inspires you? The fact that we are born to rock the stage and entertain other people with loud noises

How often and where do you rehearse? We try to rehears once a week in a town called Houten. We have our own rehearsal studio there

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Roy and Tony are Light engineers. So they work at other venues for bands and events. They like that a lot! Chuy trained to be a studio engineer and is gonna do that more an more when time comes. Engineering is live man!

What are your songs about? The usual. Alcohol, Chupacabra’s, Jesus feeling sassy.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? No lyrics man! All instrumental. And mostly Chuy and Tony write them. Roy goes with the flow and improvises great bass grooves with them. Works like a charm in our band.

What was your first gig like? We haven’t played any yet… We just got out so we are looking for places to play and become famous!

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Never. We don’t have any but we will soon once we come up with some cool idea’s

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? We can’t blame them. If you really wanna listen to something cool no matter what then just do it. If we are so cool that people are gonna download us and steal our albums then that means we accomplished something right?

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? The music industry got changed because of the digital age and the modern streaming business. Spotify, Grooveshark, all those kinds of platforms earn way more than bands by streaming their music. ‘Hey you’ve got 1 million streams! Here’s 50 bucks’. Music is not a piece of art anymore. This industry made sure songs became products and that’s a shame. The good thing about it is that every person has the chance to listen to their favourite bands, and that’s nice tho!

What do you think of my work? Pretty cool man, keep it up! Your even interviewing smaller bands and we think that’s cool!

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Every publicity is good publicity right? Right!

What advice would you give other bands or artists? No matter what you do, just make sure everybody is having fun. You, your band, the crowd, your drug dealer. Everybody!

How do you get psyched for a gig? How DON’T you get psyched for a gig? A chance to entertain people will always fill us up with excitement. It’s just one of the coolest feelings man!

How can people reach? Facebook and simply by coming to our gigs!

What are your plans for the future? Rock.. The Fucking.. STAGE! And drink beer.

Do you have something to add? Hi Ma! We’re on TV! No seriously, thank you for this interview!
