Have any of you played in other bands?
Yeah, Scott(drummer) played in Falling short of Second, Beyond Betrayal and is still playing in a death metal band called Dissolution.
Stevo(singer) played guitar in a few bands, Insanely Unsound, the Resistance and played bass for High Five Drive and is currently rocking the bass in Clipwing.
Ray(guitar) played in Piffle and Garvin Riot.
Andy(guitar) played drums in Garvin Riot.
Fipz has always just played in In2Months.
How is it that you started playing music? We all love music and love to create, perform music. It's part of who we are.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Steve(Stevo) Nelson is on vocals.
Andy Funk plays guitar.
Ray(Yar) Braun plays guitar.
Ryan(Fipz) Braun plays bass.
Scott Patterson plays the drums.
Have you had other previous members? We played with a bunch of different drummers over the years until we landed Scott on drums. Stevo joined on vocals in 2011 freeing up Andy to concentrate on guitars instead of tackling guitar and vocal duties.
Where are you from? We all live in Winnipeg, Canada.
What year did the band form? That's a tricky answer. Ray, Andy and Ryan began jamming together, writing and playing with many numerous different drummers beginning in 2003. We finally found Scott in 2007, who was(still is) playing in local metal band, Dissolution and was looking to get back into a punk band. They continued writing and gigging over the years with Andy on vocals until Stevo joined in 2011 after High Five Drive called it quits. So, long story short, we kinda formed in 2003 but the band was finalized when Stevo joined in 2011.
What's your style of genre? We play a 90's influenced skate punk with a bit of hardcore and rock mixed in.
What inspires you? Life, music, bands
How often and where do you reherse? We rehearse once a week at our drummers place. He has a pretty sweet jam space set up so we keep all our gear there.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? We all work full time jobs outside of band life. A few of us have families with kids so the musician life doesn't pay any bills so we have to work.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We've never looked into getting any booking agency because we haven't done any international touring. We book a lot of our own shows or our friends bands book shows and put us on the bill.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We aren't currently hunting for a label but we wouldn't be opposed to having some label help with promotion, distribution, printing, merch, etc. Our first album was fully funded by the band and Melodic Punk Style based out of Poland picked us up and helped distribute the album. We'd love to get on some more labels but we'll cross that bridge when our new album is complete.
What made you decide to make this music? Punk rock had been a huge influence in all of our lives. We grew up listening to Lagwagon, Bad Religion, No Use For A Name and that whole 90's skate punk sound.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? We all write the songs as a band and Stevo writes most of the lyrics but Andy also writes some of the lyrics.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? All of our songs start with the music and it gets pieced together after with lyrics, vocals, back up vocals, etc.
Have you done any covers live? We have done some covers over the years. We've covered "1000 good intentions" by Rose Against, "friends with the enemy", "justified black eye" and "coming too close" by No Use For A Name, "self appointed leader" by Gob. We've toyed with the idea of doing some more covers in the future but we'll see.
What language do you sing in? All of our songs are in English.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Our largest gig might be around 100-150 and smallest...maybe 30 or so. Hard to say, it's been a while since we had a really bad turnout, which is good.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We have 22 songs recorded and most sets are around half hour so we typically try to play different sets everytime but we all have our favourite songs we all like to play.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? There are a few venues in Winnipeg that we regularly play, mainly the Handsome daughter and the Cavern. Both are super fun venues to play.
What was your first gig like? Our very first gig was back in 2003 at a youth drop in centre in Niverville, Manitoba. It was a battle of the bands and the place was packed.
What was your latest gig? Our last show was just last month at the Cavern in Winnipeg.
Have you had to cancel a gig? We've been fortunate to never have had to cancel any gig. Let's hope that trend continues.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year?
Hopefully play a couple of local shows until the album is ready and then do a local release followed by a short Canadian tour to promote the album.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We have a couple of CD's and some shorts for sale. We plan on having more merch printed in time for the tour.
Where can people buy your merchandise? Right now, the best way to get merch would be to send a msg to the band on Facebook but we'll have some merch for sale soon on bandcamp as well.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It's a great way to have people listen to your music. You just hope that people will buy the music if they enjoy it. Buying the music/merch helps bands to keep making music.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? It's allowed bands like us get heard around the globe. We've had songs featured in punk compilations in Poland, Brazil, Quebec and the USA. Without online streaming/downloading, we would never get any kind of exposure in those kind of places. It's pretty cool to have fans from all around the world.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Someone my read it and be get interested in hearing our music. If it gets one person to listen to our band, then it was worth it.
Do you have any role models or idols? There's too many musical role models to just pick one. There's been many that have influenced/inspired us to do what we do but ultimately, the band has always been about friendship, making music with some of my best friends and playing it to people on stage. We just hope people enjoy it as much as we do.
What have been your biggest obstacles? We've had numerous obstacles. Finding the right line up was probably the biggest obstacle. It took us 8 years to finally end up with the line up and it was well worth it.
How do you get psyched for a gig? We always rehearse the set before loading up our gear for a show. That's usually all that's needed to get us psyched up.
Do you have any new material? We have a new album in the works right now. It's nearly finished. All that's left to record is vocals on a couple of songs and then mixing/mastering.
What are your web sites?
https://in2months.bandcamp.com/
https://m.facebook.com/in2months/
How can people reach you? The best place to reach us is through our Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/in2months/
What are your plans for the future? Our immediate plans are to finish our album, release it and then do a run of shows through Canada. After that, who knows what the future holds. Probably start writing more for the next record.
Do you have something to add? Thanks for showing interest in our band.
