interview with Mystica Girls
What is the name off bands? MysticaGirls, but most people write it as two separate words.
Tell us a brief introduction of who you are? We are a female metal band based in Mexico City, currently promoting our second album. MysticaGirls has been active for almost a decade, in where a lot of changes, both artistic and of line up have been done, always trying to give our fans the best product we can.
Where are you from? We are from Mexico City, but our vocalist is from Chile.
How did you meet?I originally met the first bassist in a bar where we talked for the first time, I had always wanted to play in a 100% female band, and she already had a cover band and was looking for a guitarist. After I joined that band (named “Mystica”) we played covers for a couple of years, until in 2007 our original project started and the band’s name was changed to Mystica Girls. A few years later the name was definitively modified to MysticaGirls.
What is your name?/Who plays what?/How old are you? We are all in our twenties, I am Cinthya Blackcat, and I play the guitar. Mon Laferte is the voice, Kathy Whitewolf in the bass and Yoli Moreno in the drums.
Explain to those who have not heard you, how does your music? MysticaGirls is mainly a metal band. The music shows strength and power through the riffs, aggressive bass lines and drums, but with an amount of technical resources, for we try to give our best to offer as much quality in our songs as we can.

The first gig we played as an original project was in 2007

Who writes the songs?/Who does the music? I write most of the songs, this has been more obvious in the past three years, but the girls contribute with wonderful ideas that enrich the music and this creates a magical outcome. I write most of the lyrics too.
How old were you when you started with music? I was 14 years old when I had my first approaches to music, but I wanted to have a band made exclusively of girls since I can remember! It has been a life long dream for me.
How often do you repair? We rehearse every day by ourselves, and once or twice a week as a formal full band rehearsal. It’s a full time job!
When did you start off band? The original project started in 2007, even though the band’s history can be tracked to the cover era, back in 2005.
Do you always the same songs live or vary it?We have a main set list, it usually includes most of the songs of the latest album and a few classics of the previous record, or even older. We try to give some variation and sometimes we even play a cover song or two.
