interview with PARARRAYOS
What´s the name of your band? PARARRAYOS
How was the band formed? The band was formed on November 10, 2010 by Sebastián Saracho, as a
trio were adding to which other instrumentalists, to be a quintet and record their first album. The band is
currently recording their second independent album, with a new integration
Can you tell about your band? The proposal of the band goes from a rock and pop alternative, mixing
with indigenous musics of the Uruguay, candombe, murga, and folk music of the interior of the country,
Argentina, and the India. They seem to be many different musical influences, but we like to try to give an
identity to the band in that way, mixing international musical influences, with others in our country, or any
other . Lyrically, the themes are varied, some letters are more confrontational, more other environmentalists, others are referred to human relationships, some are more inward, more personal, all with personal seal and the very particular vision of the vocalist, Sebastián Saracho
Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band? Pararrayos is integrated by:
Sebastián Saracho (guitar and voice) Joel Diana (saxophone, vocals), Adrian Segovia (bass) Gabriel
Sarasua (guitar) and Ismael Montes (drums) three of its members are from Montevideo, Joel was born in
Florida, a town in the center of the country, and Ismael in Artigas, on the border with Brazil. All
Uruguayans!
What was the ambitions of the band when you started? Think they will basically listening to a rock
band, very energetic, with some moments of pop, funky, and some ballads, with lyrics with interesting
points of view. Each presentation means fun, party, so you have to participate!
Where was your first gig? The first presentation of the band was at a festival in a park of skate, in
January 2011, along with other bands of different styles, having good reception from people, who
despite being a varied audience we accepted without any problem
Where was the latest gig? Our last presentation was in a nightclub called The Barrel, on August 9, in
which are about 500 people... and well! It was small! We must ended doing another gig in Sunday!!!
Who writes your songs?/ who writes the music who writes lyrics? Concept art, decisions as to the
music respect, and the lyrics are Sebastián Saracho´s task, other like themes, arrays, etc., we do it all
together
Who has the best since of humor in the band? The band itself has a good sense of humor, each are
different: Adrian is the serious, Ismael is the most smiling, Gabriel is more spiritual, Sebastián is all
nerves... the funniest guy in the band is Joel!
What's good/bad with the band?/What genre do you feel you are? we´ll make the music that we get
better... is rock!
Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? There are two things, we mostly
play our songs, and sometimes we prepare some strange and odd version of a known issue
Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? Yes! Our album debut:Pararrayos! Soon will come
the second, we are still putting it together, so far we don't have defined the title

How old are you?/What got you started in music? In the band are people from different generations,
we have people with 40 and more, with extensive musical experience, and some people to 25 to 30, with
some experience. All began from an early age to that of the 15 or 16 years, in bands with friends.
At what age did you start playing? Soon we are planning our first shows in Argentina, this year and in
the summer of the next, as well as a few dates in Brazil and in the U.S.
How old were you guys when you first stood on stage? We play in the Teatro de Verano here in
Montevideo, opening for Franz Ferdinand, before that... in November
What year was the band started? Yes! We are now finishing to introduce to the crowd our first album, but also, to not bored and so people go listening, play some new songs and strange and rare covers
Best/worst gig you've played? We played to an average of 700 to 1000 people, usually, but festivals
once were able to touch for 6000 people, inside, in Durazno (a town)
What places will you be playing in in the imidate future? Most immediately, is to finis recording the
second album, and face those shows in Argentina... then will!
Where have you played from then till now? Usually played in small places, here is Montevideo, the
scene is short, there are 5 or 6 places ranging from the 200 to 500 people in capacity. Also played in
downtown cities in clubs, nightclubs or theatres, or festivals, but not all the time!!
How important are your fans? Our fans are people just like us, are those who share our songs, of course they´re important to us! Without them, the band disappears!
What drives a band that isn't all that famous and renowned to try to make a living on their music
and to keep playing? In Sebastián business, set up a rehearsal room... the baticueva!

Any pearls of wisdom for all other bands out there? The major obstacle that has a band when it starts,I
think that it must be the superstar virus, or if you will, that do not let climb the asterisks into your head!Despite the fact that people like rock stories,if you miss the humility, or you transform in something that you're not, people is not stupid, they really take note! You have to be honest with what you do, with what you feel, and also with those who follow you. Credibility is very important.
Whats your Pre-show ritual? Playing in clubs gives you experience, scenario, equipment management...
deal with the owners of clubs, woow!!This is positive because you learn to deal with a lot of things, but the
negative side is that sometimes this take you large moments of headache, fever and pure anger!! But it is
finally learning!that´s it!!
Do you have anythingtoadd? Greetings, Robex and Rinna! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to
express ourselves and to inform others of what we do!success!!hugs from Montevideo!! Vamoarribaaa!!!
