How is it that you started playing music? Can't speak for others but personally me (Pete) and Jaakko basically started to play guitar the same time in the early 90's
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? lineup is: Matthias Lillmåns - vocals Pete Pohjanniemi - guitar & bass Jaakko Nieminen - guitar Anders Törnqvist - drums as far as ages go we're all in our mid 30's
Have you had other previous members? Not really unless you count in Joonas Lönnbäck who basically started this project and kinda got thrown out (sorry) :)
Did you make music even when you were young? We have all been playing in different bands for 20 years
Where are you from? Finland
What year did the band form? Argent Void saw the light of day in the year 2011
What's your style of genre? Thrash, Death Metal etc
What inspires you? Early 90's death and thrash metal bands
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? No, this day it's completely useless, you can do everything yourself and make your music available so easily and make records at home.
What made you decide to make this music? I think we all just love music in general and some of these songs date back to even 20 years so I found a way to get them done. Otherwise they would've just been stuck in my head for god knows how long :)
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? I (Pete) wrote all the songs, half the lyrics, and second half of the lyrics were written by Joonas Lönnbäck. We split guitar solos almost in half with Jaakko, I play all the first solos and Jaakko plays the latter solos.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Always a idea or a structure of a song, can't do it other way around as lyrics and melodies (which are nonexistent in this project) are easier to make afterwards
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Naked at home :P
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records nowadays? My personal opinion is that it's not a bad thing, kids can discover new bands so easily these days and on the positive side become fans and the buy the records and attend gigs etc. by downloading mp3's.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? I personally hate music industry as it does not serve the music at all, every record company just cares about the money, not music so f.... 'em.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? if one person reads this and listens to our songs, mission accomplished!
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Definately old, new bands these days all sound the same and it's hard to tell them apart.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Be yourself and do it yourself
Do you have any new material? We still have some songs left from our recording sessions that might see the light of day sometime in the future.
