Interview with Mitch Arnold
What´s the name of your band? My name is Mitch Arnold. I am the lead singer of the rock n roll band, WAYLAND.
How was the band formed? Phil Vilenski, the guitar player of the band, and I started playing acoustic music on the
streets of LA years ago. It got to the point we felt we couldn't go any further without joining
up with other musicians to form a band. After many different incarnations of bands and
band names, we crossed paths with Dean Pizzazz (bass player) and Tyler Coburn in Los
Angeles and formed the band WAYLAND.
Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band? Phill and Tyler are from the same part of Michigan. Phill is actually from Wayland, MI,
which we named the band after. Tyler is from right around the corner in Middleville, MI.
Dean is Detroit, MI and I'm from Bloomington, IN.
What was the ambitions of the band when you started? When we started, our ambitions were very similar to our ambitions now. To create honest
music that touches the lives of the listeners. It can be as simple as hearing a song and having
a great time and as deep as someone hearing one lyric and it changing their whole life. Our
ambition is to share our music with the world and making a living doing so.
Could you explain your music to someone that haven't heard you? WAYLAND is a pretty even split between Led Zepplin and Shinedown.
Where was your first gig? Our first gigs were on the streets of Los Angeles, although our first official gig was in a tiny
club in Santa Monica, CA. We played last night in Morgantown, WV on a festival stage at
Triple S Harley Davidson.
Who has the best since of humor in the band? Dean probably has the best sense of humor but we all laugh our asses off a lot.
What's good/bad with the band?/What genre do you feel you are?
Good: We're an amazing rock n' roll band.
Bad: It's never easy. But even that we don't mind.
Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? We didn't pick this style of music. When we all play together, that's what comes out.
Do you write your own material or mainly covers? We write 99% of the material we play. We do play a couple covers but not very many.
Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? We have released two albums as WAYLAND. Our first CD was self-titled, WAYLAND and
our latest EP is called Welcome To My Head.
Do you have any clips on YouTube? Ummmm...Yes, there are a lot of clips on YouTube
How old are you?/What got you started in music? We all started playing music and performing at a very young age. We are still moderately
young.
