Interview with Ritchie Dan, lead singer of My Tempered Soul.

Personal questions about the band and their members:
Have you played in any band before? All of us have been in the music business for decades and have worked with each other in one way or another.  Most recently three quarters of the band were in a rock band named Render.  While Mikey and I were in a few cover bands, Spice Weasel and Moticon.
How will they do that you began to enter the field of music? I think for all of music is a passion we've always had.  We all started playing at a very young age.  I personally use music as a form of therapy.  After serving in the Army for 20 years and suffering from PTSD, through music I was able to vent without turning to more harmful devices like drugs or alcohol.
What's your name? / Who plays what? / How old are you? We are My Tempered Soul.  We are a progressive rock band based out of Central Maine, USA.  I, Ritchie Dan, play guitar and sing, Chris Skehan plays lead guitar, Nick Laplante plays the bass, and Michael Beauschene plays the drums. We are all in our mid 30s to early 40s
Did you do music already when you were small? We all played as kids.  I personally picked up a guitar when I was 8 and never put it down.
Where are you from? We are all from the state of Maine.
What year was started the band? Sept 2015
What do you play music style? Alternative, Progressive Rock, Post Grunge
What inspires you? A lot of our songs are about war and the deep impact it had on me while the rest of the songs are about life and the mysteries of our existence.
How often do you appear? We try to play a show at least once or twice a month.
How have you evolved since you started with music? Ohh dramatically.  We started out with simple tunes that have steadily adapted and have become far more technical.
Do you have any other interests or jobs outside of the band and the music? All of us have jobs. Two of us are mechanics while the other two install flooring.
Are you looking for the booking company, what are your thoughts and requirements around it then? We currently are working with Granite Coast Entertainment who have done an outstanding job with the promoting and booking. 
Are you looking for record labels, what are your thoughts and requirements around it then? As far as labels go we put ourselves out there and know that eventually they will notice.
Questions about your music and lyrics:
What made you want to play music? We were all inspired by music at an early age and it became a foundation that we built our lives upon.
What are your songs about the whole? Life, war, love, mortality
Who writes the lyrics? Ritchie writes all the lyrics.
Who does the music? Collectively we come up with ideas and build off of them.
When you do a song, you start with the music or the lyrics? Almost always the music.
In which environment do you usually do your songs? We write our music together then go home and refine each of our parts. I usually write the lyrics while I'm locked away in my basement.
Do you play only original songs live and also covers? We play both.  We try mix in covers that will act as a bridge between our original sets.
What language are you singing about? English
Questions regarding your gigs and performances like:
How many have come at least to your concerts? We have played in front of 7 people once.  But we still performed like there were thousands.
How many have come most of your concerts? Our last show had about 50 people.
How have you done or intend to do it to get more audience at your gigs? We've been utilizing social media hard. We are heading to the recording studio in a few weeks.  And we promote constantly.
Which age group drawn mostly to your concerts? Our demographic is mostly 40+, mostly male
Do you play always the same songs live or vary it? We generally play the same set because we are promoting our upcoming CD.
Do you have any ordinary place where you usually play? Local clubs generally.
Each was led first gig? Our first gig was at Uncle Eddie's in Massachusetts. 
Each was led last gig? Our last gig was a rock show at Amercan Legion Post 202.  It was epic!
Have you had to adjust reached gig sometime? No, never had to cancel
Where have you been playing this year? All around the state of Maine. 
Where do you have plans to play the rest of the year? Hope to branch out across New England.
Which countries have you played in? USA only. But our music is broadcasted around the world on 33 different internet stations.

Questions about your views:
What do you think about downloading more music than buying CDs nowadays? I think that as a band being able to digitally distribute your music to the world is amazing, and far more cost effective.
How to think and do you think the music industry has changed since they started downloading music? The industry has turned more in favor for the independent artist.  With he power of the internet we are able to reach millions.
If you prefer downloaded music, cassette, CD or Vinyl? I download Everything.
What would you do if the music is not the fans? Continue to play.  If the music is good there are people out there who will want to hear it.
What about the guards' job at your gigs and stuff? Security is always good.  You never want a party to get out of hand or have people get hurt.
Those attending light and sound how much they have helped you really if you think about? Light and sound are super important.  They help us put on the most entertaining performance.
What do you think of my work? I like the punk feel to it.  It's good.
How believe and know that this interview will help you in Brazilian music? Help us be known to more fans. Networking through others is the easiest way to he known.
What are your role models or idols? Our music is inspired by bands like Tool, Alice in Chains, Breaking Benjamin, and Godsmack.
What do you think they are age limits on some concerts? 100% to avoid underage drinking.
Is it easier to draw inspiration from older bands than bands that are active today? Personally yes.
What has been conditioned biggest obstacles in the music industry? Competition for shows and trying to get people to shows.
What advice would you give to other bands and artists? Use the internet to build an audience and then be able to deliver.
How tags you up before a concert? I'm basically pumped up the whole day from the moment I wake up.
