interview with Norikum

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes. Besides Norikum Paul plays in Ellende and Nekrodeus. Bene plays also in Ellende as well as in Ziagnmölka. Bands, Norikum members rocked with in the past are Klynt and Rectal Rooter. Apart from that there have been serveral (which means a shitload of) other projects we were active in. 
How is it that you started playing music? Get rich or die tryin'
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Have you had other previous members? We started to play seriously when this lineup came together.
Did you make music even when you were young? Yes and we formed Norikum when we were sixteen.
Where are you from? Graz, Austria
What's your style of genre? We would consinder ourselves as a Death Metal band. But feel free to call us whatever you want.
What inspires you? Life, Porn, Death
How often and where do you reherse? Once a week in a basement outside of Graz.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Two of us grew a beard. One got a STD once. But the most significant development is that we learnt to concentrate the band's energy.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yes.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We are not actively searching for one but if there is a good offer we would seize it.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We are not actively searching for one but if there is a good offer we would seize it.
What made you decide to make this music? Other good bands.
What are your songs about? Things we are not totally fine with!
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics?
Peter writes the riffs and the songstructure. Rapheal writes most of the lyrics. Paul does the arrangements and also writes some lyrics.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music and lyrics develop seperately. 
Do you compose in a certain environment? Yes.
Have you done any covers live? Yes we did visionary interpretations of Yolanda Be Cool's "We no speak Americano" and Gigi d'Agostino's "l'amour toujours". Eye-opening. Not kidding.
What language do you sing in? English.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? It ranges between three and thousand.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? It ranges between three and thousand.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We create a new Setlist for almost every show.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? "Club Wakuum" and "JUZ Explosiv" in our hometown. Awesome locations and nice people.
What was your first gig like? It was like getting caught while watching porn... the kinky stuff!
What was your latest gig? It was a nice little open air festival in Austria. 
Have you had to cancel a gig? Once, but it was beyond our control.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? 2010, when we released our first EP. We have three CDs out and currently 3 different T-shirts.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Understandable. But downloading is never as satisfying as holding a physical piece of music in your hands.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? We don't think much about the industry.
What do you think of my work? Promoting bands in any kind is a noble thing to do! Important stuff please keep it up!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business?
Over the years we made the experience that nothing really helps apart from playing shows and connect with other bands.
Do you have any role models or idols? Captain Spaulding and Bender.
Why do you think that they exist? Because we, the mortals, need them.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Mostly Bands that are still active today.
What have been your biggest obstacles? We chose the wrong genre to get rich with... so it looks more like die tryin'.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Never rehearse and do cocaine.
How do you get psyched for a gig? The thrill of not having rehearsed + cocaine.
