interview with Eli van pike.

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, we did and we still have other projects around. E.g. Ken has his Project Firesphere, Marc his solocarrer as VANDERBERG and Thorsten e.g. Cradle of Haze.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Thorsten, Mix & Mastering, Vocals, Synthesizer
Marc, Guitars, Drums, Bass
Ken, Vocals
We are old enough to rock and roll
Where are you from? Germany and USA.
What year did the band form? We set up the band in September 2016
What's your style of genre? Industrial / Gothic Metal
What inspires you? Good question. Musically, we are inspired by lots of different rock acts. Europe, Malmsteen, Queensryche, Sisters of Mercy, Ramstein, etc.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that?
We will release our debutalbum on April 14. So let´s see and if ppl buy it we need a booking agency.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We have the comfort situation, that Thorsten has his own label. So - we are not looking for another label.
What are your songs about? They are about love, drugs and war. What happened in the world has a great impact on the lyrics.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? The album was composed by our guitarist Marc - also the lyrics.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? We start with the music and see how it turns out. We work with demo lyrics where we sing real bullshit. After completing the music we write reasonable lyrics.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We started with shirts and hoodies. Merchandise starts now.
Where can people buy your merchandise? http://www.darksignmusic.de/?page_id=2421
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Good question. I do not have any problems with MP3 Downloads. It is easier to buy, to use, to storage. I am not a streaming fan, bc, bands do not get much for this. Also ripping music is not a fair deal.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? I guess that in a couple of years, CDs do not have any place in the industry. I hope, that streaming music is getting a better revenue model for the musicians in the future.
What do you think of my work? Great work. Musicians need platforms to be seen or heard. Esp. in these days.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? I hope, that we reach some ppl and maybe they check out our music and support us.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?
Most of the time I get inspired by older bands. But there are also some new bands out that are worth to listen to. but inspiration is in my point of view coming from those bands, you grew up with.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Zwischen Leber und Milz passt immer noch ein Pils. No - difficult. Everyone has a different approach. In general, everyone should do what he is best in. stay true, never fake.
Do you have any new material? Yeah, our debut coming on april 14.
What are your web sites? We your our facebook page to represent us.
How can people reach you? The easiest way seems to be via facebook.
What are your plans for the future? We want to write and record the next album and release it as soon as possible.
Do you have something to add? Yes, give my best regards to Dr. Avalanche.
