interview with Dirty Glory

Have any of you played in other bands? We all have played in other bands before! Since we were teenagers, music surrounds us! However, of course, all in different styles and projects!
How was it that you started playing music? I used to listen to Iron Maiden and Metallica a lot… My first guitar was a broom! Hahahaha I use to air guitar around listening to Powerslave and Master of Puppets… that was everything that mattered to me back then.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
I’m Reichhardt, the guitarist! – 32 years old
Jimmi DG is the Vocalist - 31
Sas, Drummer – 27
Vikki bassist - 23
Have you had other previous members?
2 of them, actually.
Vinni Novack is our original and former bassist… left the band to live abroad.
Dee Machado had a baby and decided to become a family guy!
Whatever makes them happy, is fine by us!
Did you make music even when you were young? Studying, having classes and jamming among friends.
Where are you from? We are all from São Paulo, Brazil!
What year did the band form? 2011
What's your style of genre? Hard Rock
What inspires you?
As a guitarist I have always loved big guitar bands like Van Halen, Extreme, Living Colour, Maiden, Mr. Big, Hendrix, Zep, Pink Floyd... and of course, the blues! That’s where you find soul!
How often and where do you reherse? Once a week, for about two hours…
Do you have other interests of work outside the band?
All my interest is on Music… I mean, I love cinema, painting, art in general… But I express myself only through music! Jazz, Blues, Brazilian music… all styles!
What are your songs about? It’s a bout self-questioning and increasing yourself as a human being able to think! Not everybody thinks! As weird as this may sound! People don’t even try to know theirselves! It’s about looking inside for the answers you may go for!
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? My brother in heart, Jimmi DG
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Always riffs! That’s the definition of Rock!
What language do you sing in?
English
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs?
Between 50 and 300 people I think.
What ages are most of your concert attendants?
They are mostly young … around their 20s
What was your first gig like?
Awesome!!! But terrifying before going on stage! We were so nervous!
What was your latest gig? Same as the first one! Hahahaha Even 6 years after and playing constantly!
Have you had to cancel a gig? For sure! Injuries, lack of payment…
Where have you played live this year? Cool Rock clubs in São Paulo, others around the country and the best of all: in the street.
Where can people buy your merchandise? At this link: www.znstore.com.br/dirtyglory The site is in Portuguese, but anyone can e-mail them to ask for a delivery outside the country.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days?
Awesome! Made the industry different! But we know a lot of bands that we’d never if we were still on the old model.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? They have created Spotify and others to fight piracy… it’s a great play I think.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? By getting your readers to listen to us! I hope!
Do you have any role models or idols? Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix, President Obama, Sigmund Freud, Jerry Seinfeld, Woody Allen, Vermeer, Caravaggio, Degas, Miles Davis… it’s a big list!
Why do you think that they exist? To lead our way to the brightest light!
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? You can find inspiration on a peanut! You just have to be opened for that! Whatever touches your heart will inspire you to do what you have to!
What have been your biggest obstacles? My agenda!
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Keep on! Don’t give up on any “No”… if your band falls apart, keep playing! Music is the important thing here! And if you keep practicing, you will be rewarded!
How do you get psyched for a gig?
Stretching and warming up my fingers on the guitar board!
Do you have any new material?
For sure!
Our only song in Portuguese!
It’s called “Uma Noite e Meia”!
A brazilian rock classic!
What are your web sites? We are on facebook, Instagram, Sportify, Deezer, Itunes, Imusic, Googleplay and many many others!
How can people reach you?
