interview with Acidfather

What´s the name of your band? Acidfather

How was the band formed? We wanted to create music we like so we started making sludge metal heavily influenced by the Melvins.

Can you tell about your band? The band consists out of three members from the beginning, on drums – Sandor (LaVey) Bezeg, on bass Miroslav Jojkic Yoya, on vocals & guitar Stevan Pivnicki.

Where are all band members from? We all live in Srbobran, quiet agricultural town, that’s why we want to stir things up.

What was the ambitions of the band when you started? The main ambition of the band is to promote DIY (do it yourself) way of thinking. Today there are endless possibilities because of technology and we want to make good music and to create friendships through our music.

Could you explain your music to someone that haven't heard you? Stoner sound with a lot of Seattle influence and sloppy guitar solos.

Where was your first gig? At our bassist’s house, it was for his 35-th birthday. It was august 2015 and it was really hot outside, so we jammed until it started raining really bad, afterward we ran into the house with all our equipment and continued to play inside the house. The house was packed with drunk people and the music was deafening. It was better than we expected.

Where was the latest gig? Our latest gig was at the basement beneath town’s library. We organized that gig with other three local bands. The gig was on 24-th of December on 2016 and it was so good. We played a lot more than we planned especially because the crowd did not let us leave, so we played some songs we haven’t played in a while and they sounded really sloppy but it was all in good fun.

Who writes your songs?/ who writes the music who writes lyrics? The songwriter is Stevan Pivnicki, vocalist & guitarist.

Who has the best since of humor in the band? We all like to have fun and we all have the same type of humor, it happens mostly during breaks between songs or at the bar after we finish our practice.

What's good/bad with the band?/What genre do you feel you are?

The bad thing for now is that we do not have the professional demo and inability to play more gigs because of our personal responsibilities in life.

As for genre we think we sound like proto-grunge bands like the early Melvins or TAD.

Why did you pick that particular style? We love heavy sound that sludge metal provide but we are not just sludge, we like to incorporate little bit of hardcore, speed metal like Sepultura during Arise/Chaos A.D. era and dirty sound like early Nirvana, yes I said Nirvana.

Do you write your own material or mainly covers? The band started as a cover band but we did covers from various bands, from Nirvana to Biohazard, basically we did everything we like with no rules what so ever. Now when we get tired of making our own songs we just switch into playing some of our favorite songs from our favorite bands.

Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? Nope, not for now but we plan to make demo soon, so we will see how the will work out.

Do you have any clips on YouTube?

What are the plans for the rest of the year? We’d like to play more live shows and to make full album and perhaps to play more around the world, so if you know someone who would like our sound send us a message at https://www.facebook.com/Acidfather/

Where do you usually play? Our favorite places are smaller clubs because the crowd is more relaxed and in tune with the band, on larger gigs or festivals there is no connection between band and the audience as much.

How do you get psyched up for a gig? Beer.

What are your sources of inspiration? Everyday life.

What's the first step when making a new song? Music comes first then lyrics, we like to create good songs before we start making words.

Besides your own music, what genres and bands do you listen to? We listen absolutely everything we like with no prejudice.

Have you been part of any other projects? Stevan Pivnicki (guitars & vocal) has played in a numerous industrial, drone and punk projects. Sandor (LaVey) Bezeg played in mostly metal bands and Miroslav Jojkic Yoya played in cover bands.

How often do you rehearse? As much as we can.

Where do you rehearse? Our first rehearsals were at Yoya’s house, then we switched to Sandor but now we are back at Yoya’s place.

Name 2 of your own songs you like at the moment? Acidfather-On The Edge https://soundcloud.com/acidfather/acidfather-on-the-edge Acidfather - All Alone https://soundcloud.com/acidfather/acidfather-all-alone

Do you have any webpages? https://www.facebook.com/Acidfather/

Any pearls of wisdom for all other bands out there? Keep it real for yourselves because it’s obvious if you fake it.

Describe your show, visually and musically. Everyone goes completely insane, people are jumping, yelling and moshing everywhere.

What are the biggest obstacles for a band? Life in Serbia.

Tell us about upcoming gigs and why we should be at them? Because we are crazy motherfuckers, we go all berserk during our performance, sure me make mistakes when we play, but it does not mater, it’s all rock and roll.

Do you have anything to add? Keep on rocking in the free world.
