interview with Goodnight Irene

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, local ones, it wasn’t anything brag about, but it got us laid a lot, so that’s pretty cool.
How is it that you started playing music? Well, we found out being famous gets your dick sucked, so we started playing shit.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Justin- 24, Vocals/Bass
Tim- 86, Guitar (yes 86)
RJ- 27, Guitar
Devan- 23, Drums
Have you had other previous members? So many that we can’t even remember, but those were different times.
Where are you from? We’re based off of a rooftop in Dubai, but in all seriousness, we’re from Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Which is about 50 miles south of Pittsbrugh.
What year did the band form? 1922(2012)
What's your style of genre? We play all ranges of metal, everything else sucks. But we do have a country album in the works, and trap.
What inspires you? Coming to the conclusion that reality is a multi-dimensional being, and finding ways to penetrate other people’s realities, or universes, if you will. There are multiple planes of existence and being on all of those planes with so many different people is what drives us, it’s what keeps us inspired to keep doing what we do every single day. Because its more important for us to feed people’s souls and be on the same level with them, than to do whatever a producer tells us to do.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Tons of different things, ranging from graphic design, to clothing, to guitar lessons. Everything still kind of pertains to the band.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? As long as the label does what it is mean to do, we would be interested in working with one again in the future. There’s a lot of dickless fucks out there that are going to do nothing with your music. Be careful who you sell your intellectual property to.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Devan conceptualizes and Justin actualizes. Also, Merrian Webster.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Music, and drugs.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? The sex pit.
Have you done any covers live? Yeah, we’ve done some Slipknot and Motionless in White, not too many. Which is amazing, because we can’t even play our own music.
What language do you sing in? Sexy mother fucker/English
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Our crowd sizes ranges from 3 to 11 people.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? We used to, but promoters are gay and shut down all of the local venues.
What was your latest gig? Well I’m glad you asked that, our new track has been performing exceptionally well.
Have you had to cancel a gig? Yes, entire tours. Jai forgot his walker and we had to turn around.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Yeah dude, it’s great. We’ve sold 63 records to date. We have 22 montly listeners on Spotify, things are getting bigger than Ron Jeremy, which is our tour bus’s name.
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? People will take us less seriously, which is always awesome.
Do you have any role models or idols? RiFF RAFF, Chris Fronzak, Kerry King, Lemmy, The Entirety of The Trans Siberian Orchestra, Dan Bilzerian, Hugh Hefner, oh and Scooby Doo, because no matter what, that fucker gets shit done.
What have been your biggest obstacles? Money, and Nebraska.
How do you get psyched for a gig? Devan talks to his muscles in a mirror, Justin finds new and exciting ways to take dick pics. The other two are guitar players, we don’t know what the fuck they do. They aren’t here yet.
Do you have any new material? Yes, we just released a new music video for our track “Dahlia”. It has 34 views, which is 65 more than we usually get.
