interview with O lLivro /Ata

Personal questions about the band and their members:

Have you played in any band before? Yes, we all had some bands before, when we were younger. The band who diserves be mentioned is Juão Palmito and Talo da Pinha. It was a great band that did not look like a big circle of friends interested in music. It was like a folk band, what in our country we call Rock Rural. When we are with our guitars sitting on the grass J.P.T.P still exists. More than a band is a spirit.

How will they do that you began to enter the field of music? The three of us were raised with music in our homes and like every child created the Rock n 'Roll base we dreamed of our own Rock bands. Even before adolescence we had already won our instruments and learned to play our first notes. But years passed before we formed our first real bands and a few more years until we met to compose O Livro Ata.

What's your name? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Caio “O Absurdo” Rossi – Gtr & Vc, age: 30

Jhon “O Imoral” Hernandez – Bs & Vc, age 30

Bruno “ Turbilhão” Furlani – Dr & Vc, age: 28

Have you had previous members? No, O Livro Ata began as a trio with these members and remains with the same members. In addition, if this training is dissolved there will probably be O Livro Ata no more.

Did you do music already when you were small? Well, we've always had this with us. We scratched our instruments but nothing could be said that we made music as children.

Where are you from? We are from Santo André, a metropolitan city in the region of São Paulo, Brazil.

What year was started the band? The band started in early 2010 and we have just celebrated 7 years of band.

What do you play music style? Rock n 'Roll, 70's Rock, Hard Rock. Something we like to call Rock with Roll. No more strands

What inspires you? We could make a huge list on what influences us, but we are based mostly on 70's Brazilian Rock as Mutantes, Patrulha do Espaço, Made in Brazil, O Terço, Casa das Máquinas, Som Nosso de Cada Dia and so on. Of course we are inspired by the great bands, world classics of that time like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Grand Funk Rail Road and related. Heavy Rock and Heavy Metal bands also inspire us. Judas Priest, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, U.F.O., Azul Limão, Centurias, Taurus, and so on.

How often do you repair? Frequently. At least once a month we play some place in São Paulo. For a while. Invite us to Sweden, it would be an honor ... hahaha.

How have you evolved since you started with music? We had a great evolution in seven years of band. We started with only a distant dream and we were stoning both the sounds and the band, and the sounds stoned the band and the band stoned sounds until we came to an identity. Something that we considered very important in any band and that we noticed in all the bands that we enjoyed. Nowadays, Libro Ata is something of its own, independent of the three of us. Something that has a life of its own and it show up when we get together.

Do you have any other interests or jobs outside of the band and the music? Well, in Brazil it's almost impossible to live on Rock n 'Roll so we have to work hard. Caio is mathematician and professor of mathematics and is very interested in this science (art) even if not involved in the area. Bruno make dentistic prosthetic. Owner of your own business. And John is only interested in music.

Are you looking for the booking company, what are your thoughts and requirements around it then? In 2015 we signed a contract with a booking company that recorded and promoted us, reasonably. But in a country that values Rock n 'Roll, we learn to do things independently. Our second album will be recorded in our own studio and the production and promotion will be done by ourselves.

Questions about your music and lyrics:

How will that you do music? Usually everything starts with a riff. Usually heavy. We look at this riff and try to see what your sound is going through. From here comes the atmosphere and ideas sprout. The riff shows us what we will say in the lyrics. So we get together and fit the ideas together. The music, for the most part is always done by the three.

What are your songs about the whole? All of them. All our songs are about what we live. Everything we write reflects our reality and the world we live in today. Although we were completely infuenced by the 1970s.

Who writes the lyrics? The three of us wrote. Mostly.

Who does the music? Most of the time Caio appears with a riff, but everyone contributes.

When you do a song, you start with the music or the lyrics? Almost every time with the music.

In which environment do you usually do your songs? In our studio, sometimes at home, sometimes in the park. But there is no place when inspiration comes. Anywhere is place.

Do you play only original songs live and also covers? Only original songs. But from time to time we pay homage to our idols and their songs

How many have come at least to your concerts? We are an independent band and as I said before, in Brazil this does not fill stadiums. The clubs are small but for what it is we have a good average audience.

How many have come most of your concerts? I think 200 people was our maximum until today.

How have you done or intend to do it to get more audience at your gigs? Play. Play more, play better and much. Of course, good publicity work would not hurt. But we've done that in the past. Independently. And in Brazil it gave the same result as doing nothing. Whoever wanted to come came even if he had not seen our posters in the streets and those who did not care did not come.

Which age group drawn mostly to your concerts? All kinds. Young people thirsting for Rock n 'Roll who know that this is what we do appear. People of our age with the same thirst also come. And the older ones, who lived the pure Rock n' Roll generation identify with our sound.

Do you play always the same songs live or vary it? We have about 11 songs, but they are all long lasting. Part of our progressive and psychedelic influence. As generally the shows are with other independent bands we usually have 1 hour or 1: 30h of action on stage, which gives us a maximum of 7 songs. So we always make a repertoire according to the atmosphere of the day.

Have you had to adjust reached gig sometime? Of course, a show is something that always happens. But it's fun in the end.

Where have you been playing this year? This year is still not well decided but we will play a lot in São Paulo. We will have an important show also in a place called Simplão de Tudo Rock Bar. A camp in the interior of São Paulo where we will play together with one of the bands that influenced us a lot called Casa das Máquinas.

Where do you have plans to play the rest of the year? In fact we would like to play outside São Paulo and outside Brazil. Our country is huge and we have many places to visit yet. There are some proposals but nothing confirmed yet. In addition, it is possible that we play in some festivals outside the country that will be closed by our current producer.

Which countries have you played in? Until today only in Brazil.

Questions regarding your merchandise:

What are your merchandise gadgets? We have t-shirts, buttons, stickers, cd's, patchs and we're producing a few more things like our own box of matches, refrigerator magnets and calendar.

Where can I buy your Merchanndise? At the shows of course. But it can be requested by message via facebook on the band's page  (O lLivro /Ata , or at the email: [email protected]

Questions about your views:

What do you think about downloading more music than buying CDs nowadays? We believe that the download is a good tool to get to know the music of some band that you like or rummage through rarities but this would be only the first step. We think that anyone who really likes Rock n 'Roll and is a style enthusiast should buy the physical material not only to reciprocate the artist for his work but also to have the real sound quality. Everyone knows that the mp3 is one and low quality music that suppresses parts of the music for the sake of storage in memory. It was developed for this. We believe that the listener should always search for the best quality.

How to think and do you think the music industry has changed since they started downloading music?Obviously she got weaker. People are attached to facility rather than quality, and formerly that was grace. Sometimes you could not find the record, sometimes you could not buy it, you recorded k7's at your friend's house (and even this little detail would bring people together into music), but when the record came in your hand it was the best sound one could To have recorded (after all, it was better to go to the show) and, in contrast, the musicians were selling records, getting success and reward for their work. It's a double-edged sword. Many more people know the songs they like nowadays but they know little ... they do not go deep and the scene is getting weaker.

If you prefer downloaded music, cassette, CD or Vinyl? Certainly the vinyl. This is the real sound that was recorded by the artist.

What would you do if the music is not the fans? We would not do any more music. It would not make sense if no one heard us.

What about the guards' job at your gigs and stuff? Usually not needed. Most of the time everyone is just interested in listening to Rock n 'Roll. But they need to be there. You never know what might happen. And if they act in an authoritarian way they end up buying a fight with us.

Those attending light and sound how much they have helped you really if you think about? These are almost always our friends. Friends of other bands who know what we want in our shows. They are what they do and are helping us. We can not complain about anything.

What do you think of my work? It's a very important job for sure. Everyone who likes Rock n 'Roll and its news, for example, new and independent bands certainly want to know more about it. They want to know curiosities like why they decided to make music, what their lyrics say and etc ... And more than that people want to know this by the words of the artist. And your work does it. You contribute to quench this curiosity of the people involved. People like you are special for taking this initiative. Thank you.

Do you have new material in grams? Now we're finishing our first record. It is currently being mixed and we plan to launch later this year. In addition, we have an ep with four songs that will be in the album
