Interview with Nonthewiser
Have any of you played in other bands? We´ve all been active in alot of different bands ever since we were young, and a few of us have played together before this band.
How is it that you started playing music? NONTHEWISER started because of our love for Bad Religion in particular.
Where are you from? Sweden.
What year did the band form? Probably around 2014.
What's your style of genre? Straight up punk rock.
What inspires you? Death, filth and greed. The world outside basically.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Well, our songs have become shorter and simpler. Less is more I guess.
Are you looking for a label or booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Nah, not really this is more of a fun project with friends, whatever happens happens, you know?
Whah are your songs about? The same things that inspire us. The world is a pretty fucked up place right now so there's lots to write about.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? We usually write alot if both and just puzzle them together untill they fit.
Have you done any covers live? No, but we might. I'm personally a big fan of covers, I think it's a smart move when you're a new band that people might not have seen or heard of before.
What language do you sing in? We've only done songs in English so far.
Have you had to cancel a gig? Yes, a couple actually. Our very first gig was supposed to be opening for Charta77, but it didn't work out.
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? To quote Wayne's World 2: If you book them, they will come.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Well, it's good in the way that people can find your music easily and cheap. It's bad because artist don't make money on selling records anymore, which makes tickets and merch way more expensive than it used to be.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of it? For the music I listen to, the industry in the form of labels and management have become obsolete, I think. Which brings back the DIY-way of doing things, and I kinda like that.
What have been your biggest obstacles? Everyday life with jobs and family etc, plus the fact that the members of the band live far apart.
Do you have any new material? Lots of it, just waiting to be recorded!
