Interview with Noäk.
How is it that you started playing music? Most of us started to play music since we were little kids when the curiosity for this amazing world (music) starts.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
We are 5 member:
Alejandro Cardona - Guitar Player and composer (20 yrs old)
David Viedman - Lead Guitar, acoustic guitar player and composer /Chorus (20 yrs old)
Chrisitan Arango - Lead Vocals and composer (19 yrs old)
Mateo Patiño - Bass Player/ Chorus (20 yrs old)
Josué Campos - Drums (21 yrs old)
Have you had other previous members? Yes, we had some other members as a previous Lead Singer (Yamith Betancur).
Did you make music even when you were young? We like to think we're still young, but most of us being children made a few songs for ourselves.
Where are you from? We're from Medellin - Colombia.
What year did the band form? Well, initially the band was formed in 2011 by Alejandro and David since they wanted to start playing and creating musing in their school time. However, Noäk officialy was formed in 2015.
What's your style of genre? We play from Hard Rock to Progressive Metal. But there are song where we like to mix all these genres and we call it " Experimental Metal ". We used every kind of sound and style we like and the talent of our member and make it through to adquire the experience to make good music, and eventually compose a good song.
What inspires you? Human feelings as love, betrayal, fear and how every person interacts with everykind of situations on its life. Nature is also one of our pillar, and it's actually part of our esthetic.
How often and where do you reherse? We reherse every weekend, including some fridays, 2-3 hours for week. We rehers in a music studio where you can pay for practice per hour, this is the method a lot of band uses.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Actually it has been a beautiful and supportive path for us, many of our friends constantly say that we have the talent and the love for music. So I think it's pretty much easier when you have this kind of support and has helped us to improve as musicians and persons.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? For sure, the idea of having a booking agency is a primary dream of everyband, cause you don't have to worry anymore about having the taks to search places where to play, even places where you don't receive any kind of payment and sadly being rejected in some others. So, yeah, we're looking for it and we're are very positive about it.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Yes, we want to improve the quality of our music production and as we don't the money to pay for private studio, we need to be as good as possible on the stages to find a label that can be interested on us.
What made you decide to make this music? The music itself and the love we feel for it.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Mainly the two guitar players make the music. Alejandro makes some lyrics and Christian do some lyrics as well.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? I think we don't have a way to do it. Some songs we're borned from a poem, another ones from a guitar riff or a drumms rythim, so yeah.
Have you done any covers live? We were ask for an upcoming festival to play a cover from anyband we like and has some things in common with us, we decided to play " Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden ".
What language do you sing in? Spanish mainly, but the next album will contain some english songs.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? The least had been over 50 people in a bar and the most over 300.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? The age for a bar entry in Colombia is +18 yr old, and as we most of the concerts we play in are in bars and stuff, we could say 18yr - 45 yr old
Do you have a regular place you play live often? Yeah, some bars at the Medellín's Downtown.
What was your first gig like? It was almost one year later the band was formed, cause we don't like to play much cover and stuff and we were in composing time, until the songs we're finished we weren't able to play before.
What was your latest gig? It was in our City Medellin, in a theater named " Pablo Tobón Uribe ".
Have you had to cancel a gig? Unfortunately yes, it was actually a very important. However there was some priorities, the father of the bass player died a week earlier and we decided was the best to cancel the gig, mostly for respect and support to him.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? The album is for sale in digital form for any part in the world, it's available in our page of Facebook. The physical format it's available only in Colombia.

What do you think of my work? All the member were actually talking about it, a we all agreed that you're it's very interesting because you reach of band in the other side of this world trying to share all the cultures and music behalf the bands you talk to. We really apreciate it!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? For every person, it could just one who comes into our page, listed our music and like it. It's awesome. Sometime we walk through very known and visited places of the rock scene in Medellin and people recognizes us and it feels wow, we get chills everytime it happens. So the fact a person from other part of the world listed to our music and leave a like, it's just great.
What have been your biggest obstacles? The music industry in Colombia is lame, there are festivals and that kind of things but the truth is we're more like in our own. Countries like Holland, Finland give to music a very important spot in the culture and goverment, things that doon't happen here.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Try always to improve your technics and love for this art, all the rest would come along the way.
Do you have any new material? YESS! NOÄK 2017 is our official first album. 8 songs, selfproduced and made with much love.
