interview with Beyond Eternal

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes we have. Roy, John, and Chris have been in bands before. Such as Darkcide, Victim 13, and myself in Devil's Last Wish, and myself Belligerent.
How is it that you started playing music? Just our love of metal and music in general prompted us to wanna live that dream, and play in a band of the the style we love and adore. That is heavy metal.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? Roy Robichaud, lead vocals and lead guitar. Chris Deveau, rhythm guitars. John Scribner, drums. Trevor Hickey, bass and vocals. We're in our late 30's.
Have you had other previous members? Yes we have. Beyond eternal has seen a few people come and go. Ryan Bernard (guitar) Steve Henry (guitar)
Adam Binns (bass)
Did you make music even when you were young? I (Trevor) was a late bloomer to the creating music side of thing. Roy has been writing music for over 25 years.
Where are you from? Saint John New Brunswick in the East Coast of Canada
What year did the band form? November 2012
What's your style of genre? Thrash meets Groove meets New Wave of British heavy Metal
What inspires you? Lyrically it can be personal, religious, political, paranormal, death, and everyday live. Bands we're influenced by, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Annihilator, Slayer, Pantera, In Flames, Kataklysym, Judas Priest,
Chimira, and the gods Black Sabbath.
How often and where do you rehearse? We rehearse at Roy's place, where we have our headquarters/studio space.
How have you developed since you started with the music? Musically our riffs have gottn better, melodic and technical. Lyrically has developed ten fold in subject
and overall better written.
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Cars, our families, video games, and travel
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? We are a very DIY type of band. Booking agents tend to be people who themselves have never toured, played
in a band, or have any real knowlegde of booking shows. Which is a real shame, as they could be very
helpful, IF and ONLY IF, the have had experience themselves with it.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that?
We are not actively looking for a label per se, our focus right now is to continue writting the new record,
and then we will pick that back up after we play shows/tour to support the sophomore record. It is not
a high priority right now.
What made you decide to make this music? Just our true love and passion for it, as it is a real release for us mentally and physically.
What are your songs about? Religion, Death (not so much as they used to be), Politics, Paranormal, and day to day modern life
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? All of us.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Half and half. Trevor really writes lyrics first and works the vocal line around the music after.
Do you compose in a certain enviroment? No, just at jams, or if a certain mood strikes. At home, work, or whereever.
Have you done any covers live?
A Metallica medley, Black Number One by Type O Negative, Push the Venom by Kataklysm,
Edgecrusher by Fear Factory. Plan on a couple more in the future.
What language do you sing in? English
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Least amount was 6, and the most was 300
What ages are most of your concert attendants? 18/19 - 50
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? Mostly the first record yes, but we have played a couple new ones live.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? The Trap which is a bar.
What was your first gig like? Electrifying, people were loving every note, they were engaged with us, cheering, moshing etc.
What was your latest gig? July 14th at a festival in Cocagne New Brunswick. 2 hours from our home city called Metal Bukkake
Where have you played live this year? In our home city and will be playing out of town shows asap
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? Only Halifax Nova Scotia as we're writting the new record
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Sept 2014, cd's and t shirts.
Where can people buy your merchandise? Either in person at our shows, or on our website www.beyondeternal.net
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It is a necessary evil that we can not control. If people downlod the records, and like what they hear,
they can pick the record up at a show etc.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? It has changed it dramatically. Almost for the worse. It has made it harder to gain more notoriety, and harder for bands to earn a real decent living off of the craft.
What do you think of my work? Just found out about it today (July 17th lol)
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Reach another type of audience, that will enjoy what we have to offer.
Do you have any role models or idols? Jeff Waters of Annihilator, James Hetfield of Metallica, Dimebag Darrell (RIP), Steve Harris Iron Maiden,
Anders Friden of In Flames, Andols Henrick of Chimira and Joey Jordison (formerly of slipknot)
Why do you think that they exist? They exist, and inspire us due to the same passion for music and metal that we ourselves have.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? More from the older generation, but we have inspiration from newer bands as well.
What have been your biggest obstacles? Band member changes.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Don't give up your dreams, practise, and be relentless. Professionalism is a HUGE thing as well. Don't be a
jerk and no one owes you anything.
How do you get psyched for a gig? Crank up our fav tunes.
Do you have any new material? Two new songs as of right now, more to come.
