interview with Desource

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, I did. Mostly as a session player a couple of times, or simply because I had other projects along the years.

How is it that you started playing music? I fell in love with music at the age of 11/12 thanks to my uncle who gave me "Hybrid Theory" as a gift for Christmas. Eventually I started off guitar playing soon after.

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? DESOURCE  is made of Iuri Lodovichi (Vocals), Giacomo Bracci (Guitar), Flavio Marun Cardozo (Bass) and Giulio Burini (Drums), and of course, myself. I am 28 years old anyways.

Have you had other previous members? The list is endless! ahahah

Did you make music even when you were young? I started writing songs 11 years ago
Where are you from? A small town called Castiglione del Lago, Italy
What year did the band form? 2007

What's your style of genre? Initially we were basically a progressive metalcore band. Now the project is much more a 360° progressive metal band, with dozens of different influences (too many to count).
What inspires you? Myself personally I would say God.
How often and where do you reherse? In these days, almost ever. We live scattered around the globe.

How have you developed since you started with the music? Tremendously, I write and practice every single day almost.

Do you have other interests of work outside the band? I like books and stuff related to alternative research (UFOs, conspiracy, etc.)

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? No, absolutely. They are certainly useful, but we have other plans right now.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Not now, but we will once we will have our new EP finished.

What made you decide to make this music? Many reasons, but mainly because Heavy Metal is the best music in the world. It involves everything: melody, technicality, emotions from anger to love, etc.
What are your songs about? Struggle, growth, hope

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Me and Giacomo are the main songwriters and lyricists.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? It happened to write lyrics first for our song "Betray" from the first album "Dirty Happiness", but usually we write music first.

Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Everywhere

Have you done any covers live? In the very old days, when we were kids covering our favorite artists at the time such as Killswitch Engage, Poison the Well, etc.

What language do you sing in? English

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Really difficult to answer

What ages are most of your concert attendants? from 15 to 45

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We have varied a lot during the years

What was your first gig like? It was horrible, but in our minds it was the best thing ever!

What was your latest gig? June 2017 in rome with Let Them Fall, The Avalanche Diaries and Discoveries

Have you had to cancel a gig? To be honest I can't recall!

Where have you played live this year? No, we literally can't in this moment.

Where do you plan to gig the coming year? We have no plans for a gig this year, at the moment

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Actually we have never had merch of any kind, it seems strange, but it's the truth

Where can people buy your merchandise? Nowhere, because we don't have any! ahahahah

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It's wrong, but that's because I still buy CDs every time I can

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? It's gotten way worse. People have not yet realized, because it's "cool" to say the opposite.

What do you think of my work? I think it's pretty cool

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Everything is useful :)

Do you have any role models or idols? I used to. Now my only "idol" is God, and what he wants me to do in this world for him. It seems absurd and "out of date" to think like this, but that's how I feel about my life now. I also admire the work of "the other guy", because he is the owner of our lives in every aspect, it is an actual trauma, once you realize this.

He is the real "God" of this world, and certainly there is a lot to learn from what he has done to us since the dawn of time.

What have been your biggest obstacles? Consistency. We have changed way too many members, and now we live tremendously difficult lives altogether to continue as a "real" band, but it's fine, because we have other plans to continue this project!

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Be true, and make music for yourself, not for others. Pursue the dream to become the best musician in the world, not the most "successful".

How do you get psyched for a gig? Really not sure.

Do you have any new material? Lots of demos, but now we have to finish our new EP "Ambition" and release it as soon as possible! ahahah

What are your web sites?

desource.bandcamp.com

facebook.com/desource
How can people reach you? I am a social media addict, so pretty much in any way they want!

What are your plans for the future? Write a concept album in the next 15 years, and see how the music thing will go!

Do you have something to add? Play at the just frequency of A=432 Hz, people will think you are crazy or something, but it's the right pitch tu use and your music will sound 1000 times better than any other pitch, higher or lower.
