interview with Human Vivisection

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes, all of us play in various other bands. Bands including Balance Of Terror, Klysma, Fermented Masturbation, Brutal Sphincter, Context, Erectile Burnings, Human Barbecue and more in the past.
How is it that you started playing music? I started playing music when I got my first guitar at age 16.
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?
Flo - Vocals
Roy - Guitar
Cedric - Guitar
Germain - Bass
Koen - Drums
Have you had other previous members? Yes, I (Roy) am the last original member left as founder of the band.
Where are you from? We're located in Overpelt, Hasselt, and Liège in Belgium, Eindhoven in Holland, and Saint-Omer in France.
What year did the band form? I originally founded the band in 2012, but it was placed on hold untill 2015 when I got a new lineup.
What's your style of genre? We play Brutal Slamming Death Metal
How often and where do you reherse? We rehearse at Koen's place, he has a rehearsalroom. We usally rehease twice a month.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? I own a booking agency myself. For now I'll do the bandmanagment myself, maybe in the future this will change, we'll see.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We are currently signed with Rising Nemesis Records.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? I (Roy) write all music, our singer Flo is writing the lyrics. Our previous singer Yenthe wrote the lyrics of our debut album.
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Always the music. You can't really make the music fit to the lyrics.
Have you done any covers live? We used to play Kill Your Mother Rape Your Dog from Dying Fetus, but we don't do that anymore.
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? The least are about a dozen when we just started out, the most were about 2.000 at Deathfeast Open Air.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? Most are around 25 I suspect, but there are some die-hard older and younger people as well.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We do a certain setlist for a time, and then we switch up to another one.
What was your first gig like? For me personally it was a very relieving feeling, as it has been a couple years since I've performed live with a band.
What was your latest gig? Our latest gig was Chaos Festival in the UK.
Have you had to cancel a gig? Only once, and recently, due a double booking.
Where have you played live this year? We've played in France and the UK this year. We've got more gigs in Holland, France, Belgium, Germany and the UK coming up later.
Where do you plan to gig the coming year? We'll see where the road takes us. I haven't planned a tour for this year. Yet.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We started selling merchandise at our first gig. We sell cd's, shirts, shorts, snapbacks, beanies, hoodies, zippers, patches, even pillows,..
Where can people buy your merchandise? At a show, or at our online store; http://humanvivisection.bigcartel.com
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? It sucks, but I think we just have to roll with it that it happens. I do understand why people do this, outside the fact that its free. There are so many bands out there nowadays, and it's impossible to support all of them. I prefer people to download our music illegaly and come to a show and buy merch then, then not check us out at all.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Work hard. Take action. Don't wait for gig oppertunity's, or labels to come to you. Reach out. And most importantly; support other bands, help eachother out, go to other people's gigs. Don't expect people to come out to your show if you don't go to theirs. We must all do out part to keep this underground scene alive.
How do you get psyched for a gig? I'm psyched for any gig, no mather what.
Do you have any new material? Yes, we have a completely new album written, it just needs to be recorded now.
What are your web sites?
We don't have a website, as I don't see the need to, buy you can find us on Facebook for all information you need.
https://www.facebook.com/HumanVivisection/
How can people reach you? Through our Facebookpage, or contact me directly.
What are your plans for the future? We plan to release the new album, and do an album-release-tour.
