interview with Imago Mortis
Have any of you played in other bands? Me, Abibial (bass & voice) I play only with my creature Imago Mortis, I played in some others old project as Totenkopf (black metal), Nachtvolk (pagan black metal) & Sinfonica Notte (ambient). Scighèra (guitars) play only with Imago Mortis, and he played in Delirio (thrash metal) Scighèra (ambient) & Nachtvolk (pagan black metal). Axor (drums) play with us, Mefitic (black/death metal) and Altjira (power metal), and he played with Enfall (thrash metal).
How is it that you started playing music? What made you decide to make this music? For a true passion in metal music and occult matters.
Did you make music even when you were young? Yes we started to play at school.
Where are you from? What year did the band form? What's your style of genre? Imago Mortis, from Bergamo (Lombardy), a city in northern Italy, close to the Alps. I founded the band in 1994 and we play pure Black Occult Metal.
What inspires you? old Death SS, Bathory, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone etc…
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? Yes! Books, mountain, historical research, witchcraft, to drink and to live the metal scene.
What are your songs about? Witchcraft, ancient legends, occultism, death, shamanism, and all obscure aspects of life.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? The themes and lyrics are my matters, the music processing involves all members of the band.
Have you done any covers live? No covers on stage.
What language do you sing in? We sing in current Italian, vernacular, Latin and our Bergamo language.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? Many young people but we are appreciated also by the old metal maniacs.
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? Various songs from our discography.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? No, we play where the real metal call us.
What was your latest gig? Simply excellent, we played with the French legends Celestia in their last tour.
Where have you played live this year? We played in Lyon (France), Milan, Turin, Varese, Campobasso and Trento.
Where do you plan to gig the coming year? For the moment we planned a gig in Verona on February 2018.
