interview with Nebulizar

Have any of you played in other bands?

Guillaume and Robin (Guitarist and bassist) have, in the past, been part of other formations.

Guillaume was for a few years the singer of The Sky Machine, a melodic rock band.

And Robin "Dopamine's" singer and composer,
"Crew2few's" bassist Rap/Reggae Band.
Dafklan's singer Neo Metal band.
Guitarist/singer's on "Siblece" Trash metal band.

But for me (Rodo/ The drummer), Nebulizar is my first serious experience, and for all of us, this is the most serious and resulted project i can tell.

How is it that you started playing music?

RODO: Like all passionate musician, I started very early.

Around 7/8 years old, I knocked buckets or other metal box, until my parents decided to buy my first drums.

This is the same story for other members of the band.
ROBIN: I always listen good and old music with my dad, the best ever, bless him, he paste away now. When i was 13/14 years old, a friend of mine (ex-drummer of Dopamine in fact), listened to me "Sepultura", i was not a musician at this time,(but i was already singing amateur way) so i asked myself: "What is that very low sound deep to the music?" He answer me: "The bass", I said: "Yeah, i want to do that !!!"

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you?

Guillaume - Guitar / Vocals - 27 years old

Robin - Bass/Vocals - 32 years old

Rodo - Drums - 27 years old

Have you had other previous members?

It start with only Guillaume and me Robin, so, not "previous" members, but with missing one.
We looking for a drummer, so we have right a song call: "The borders of the space", shot a clip in order to have something solid, something clean and serious to present.
A few months later, here we are, Rodo join us, and NebuliZar was truly born!

No, Nebulizar started with this line-up and I think it will always be so.

Where are you from? We are from north-eastern France, in the champagne-ardennes region.

What year did the band form?

Nebulizar was, at the origin, a studio project of Guillaume and Robin.

For my part, I've integrate the band in 2016, since the project became a live band.

What's your style of genre?

Maybe we can call it, kind of progressive, in the structure, not the technical way.

But the style does'nt matter for us. We play what we like, simply.

What inspires you?

Nebulizar's songs are mainly about human nature and spirituality.

In summary, the dark side of the man and his soul.

How often and where do you reherse?

We reherse once a week, depending on the availability of each.

Sometimes more, when approaching an event.

How have you developed since you started with the music?

Our skills have increased since we play together.

The alchemy in the band is excellent, and we progress every day.

Do you have other interests of work outside the band?

We have a job, not neccessary in music.
ROBIN: I think Rodo, like to write.
Guillaume is the most implicated in the music way, he can stay ours and days locked with his guitar and his wrist pain lol.
Me, i love nature and fishing, mushroom balad when it's time, workout, and my good job as roadie.

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that?

No, we already know an agency.

Agencies can create opportunities, so they are sometimes beneficial.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that?

Why not. We are not against integrating a label, if it corresponds to our expectations and respect our choices.

What made you decide to make this music? We just play what we like. We mix our various influences, it's our style.

What are your songs about? Of the human soul, of life after death, of passionnate love... In fact, of many things.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics?

The most often, Guillaume has the main riff and lyrics, and after that i work around it to found the arrangements possible, it's validate by the group after try many idea, Rodolphe write to, and compose or play his part on the drum, it's a team work essantially.
The result has to be unique, and correspond to our feeling.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics?

We start with music.

Then the atmosphere of the song help us to write.

Do you compose in a certain inviroment?

Not really, we compose together in a calm environment, without external embarrassment. except that ... nothing special.
For the singer, he write and compose lock to his room to.
For me, i have to be inspired by something.

Have you done any covers live?

Yes, Amen of Sepultura and I can't dance of Genesis.

We love this song, and we play it occasionally. She's very powerfull and always react to the public.

What language do you sing in? Our lyrics are in english. It's the right language to the style that we play.

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? For now, family and friends are very important, the support they can make. Other wise, we have seen many poeple some differents kind of horizon, with more or less surprise to see us.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? There are really all ages, from the young metalhead to the old heavy metal fan.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? Our set-list adapts to the time we have. But some songs remain essential for the energy of the show.

Do you have a regular place you play live often? Not really, even though we have played several times in one place.

What was your first gig like? Our first concert is not so far away, we started in August 2017.

What was your latest gig? It was just a rock competition, and surprisingly, we finished second. This allows us to play in a big festival in 2018.

Have you had to cancel a gig? No, never.

Where have you played live this year? In many bars, and concert halls of the north-east of France.

Where do you plan to gig the comming year?

We have some concerts in Eastern Europe at the end of March.

But for the moment we are focusing on our studio work, because the release of our first EP is imminent.

Then we defend it on the road this year.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Our record is going to be our first merchandise, but some t-shirt should be coming soon.

Where can people buy your merchandise? Wait, Wait, patience is a virtue..

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days?

I understand them. But when we love an artist, I think that it's important to support him, for exemple by bying the record or go to see a show.
And also we think the industry of disk is dead (but shhhht), so the best way to support a group or an artist at our time, is socials medias, concerts and merch.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this?

One day, the music will not have a physical support. She will be as anythings in our society, a product of consomation that we can change in a click.

The recording industry already partially died, Today everything takes place on the Internet and the human being gets lost for the benefit of the digital technology.

Internet has advantages, but not for everything...
Like phil collins says: "too many man, too many poeple", i think in front of too many choices, we got confused and lost, the facility to procure too.
Anyway, everything goes too fast, and this up to us to adapt.

What do you think of my work?

To leave the possibility to young formation to express himself and to be known is great.
You share the best part and truth about us and all other bands/artists you have interview, for the public can identify and know much about the underground.
So we think this is a good work.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business?

We are a new formation, all the possibilities of communication are welcome.
And if the right person would come to discover us by you.

Do you have any role models or idols?

As drummer, and French, Mario Duplantier of Gojira is a model to follow.

We also love the work of the group Leprous, so great.
ROBIN: Slayer has one of our/my sources of inspiration too, cause, Dave Lombardo/Paul Bostaph compose they drum parts, and their sounds was amazing.
In the song you say: "Hey, listen, that is the moment, that is the part, yesss! Here!" This is why is much important to stay and be faithfull to an identity even that its change with time, assumes.

Why do you think that they exist? Don't believe in "idols" or "models", but let your pride to the ground, up your head, and influence yourself with the big source of art of all time: "The Open-mindedness".

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?

No matter, only music and felt account really.
Our feeling.

What have been your biggest obstacles? as a band, none, for the moment.

What advice would you give other bands or artists?

To keep passion and don't try to succeed at all costs.
Do not let the praise go to your head ;)

How do you get psyched for a gig? Take care of stress, like everyone, we think...

Do you have any new material?

The material change regulary, but we remain faithful to certain brands.

I play on a Mapex drum kit for few years and the guitarst and the bassist playing on Kustom amplifiers.
We have take some time, like two years to get ready to come out, so the material has follow to, slowly but surely.
