interview with Dunkeltraum
What are your names? / Who plays what? We are two musicians. Our names are Manuel Alsleben and Maximilian Böttcher. Manuel is responsible for guitar, bass, and keyboard. Maximilian is responsible for drums and vocals. The texts are written by each of us or together. Depending on inspiration.
How is it that you started playing music? I think it was the inspiration of other musicians for both of us. You can see the concert and suddenly have a tendency to play an instrument.
Did you make music even when you were young? We've been making music for quite some time now. Manuel started at the age of 14. And Maximilian started at the age of 12 years.
Where are you from? We are from Germany (Bavaria).
What year did the band form? The band was founded in 2016.
What´s your style of genre? Our genre is composed of Dark Metal and Neue Deutsche Härte.
How have you developed since you started with the music? We have become more purposeful with time. The demand for perfection is also getting bigger. You develop a sense of detail
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thougts around that? We are not looking for a booking agency. A booking agency can be very useful. However, we like to take things into our own hands.
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thougts around that? We are not actively looking for a label. We think it depends on the offer and the conditions of the label.

What are your songs about? Our songs are about different topics. For example, critical themes will be anchored in the upcoming album. (Animal cruelty etc)
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? We usually do everything together. Everyone can say their suggestions.
Do you start with the music or with the lyrics? That is very different. Sometimes with the lyrics, sometimes with the instrumental.
What language did you sing in? We only sing in german language.
What are the least and the most people to attend one of your gigs? We have not played live yet. Unfortunately we are missing members to change this. But the moment will come and we will be surprised.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? Currently there is merchandise only on request. But we are planning to start an online shop. We mostly provide clothing.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Of course this is related to the age. The CD is threatened with extinction. Only loyal fans buy a CD.
What do you think about my work? We think your job is good. It's nice that there are platforms that are about interesting topics and bands.
Do you have any models or idols? I think every musician has a role model or an idol. Of course, we also have certain role models that inspire us time and time again.
Is it easier to find inspirations from older bands, or bands that are more actie today? In my opinion, this depends on which genre you represent as a musician and who you have as your role model or idol. Dunkeltraum/ 18.09.2018/Interview
What advise would you give other bands or artists? “Be yourself!”
Do you have any new material? Yes. Later this year we will release our debut album.

What are your plans for the future? We want to play live and continue to produce good music. Otherwise we let ourselves be surprised by the future.
