Some of these bands are still active on the scene today.

How is it that you started playing music?

Beto.- I started playing at 14 because I have an older brother who played in a band, which was my main influence.

Ray.- At 6 years old I used to play drums with pots, tubs, buckets and when I reach 14 I couldn’t buy a drum, so I played my friend’s drum everytime I could; I bought my first guitar and start to play at 17 Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Carcass, Sepultura, etc.

George.- I started playing Slayer songs and making just noise with my acoustic guitar.

What inspires you?

Beto.- I am inspired by my family, religions and listen to many bands with good musical quality.

Ray.- Religious lies & crap, my family (who supports and who's not) and hang out with my wife & friends to gigs

George.- A lot of my inspiration is the government corruption, fucking politicians & religious crap.

How often and where do you rehearse? Every Friday and Saturday, 2 hours each day and sometimes Wednesday, we rehearse at “La Morgue” it place where some local bands rehearse in differents rooms, it is next to “Parque Rojo” in Guadalajara Centro (Center of town). We’ve been recording every 3 years approximately, although with departure of previous bassist we have delayed a bit next material, but we are about to have it in preproduction with the help of Kostas (Greek friend guitarist of the bands Korrigan, Ambrotos and Greedy Capitalist) in a few months.

How have you developed since you started with the music? Beto.- I have developed playing different styles in other bands like the other members of HERETIC, genders like hard core, grind core, metal doom, black metal and death metal, also participating in other bands like Greedy Capitalist and Ambrotos (Greece).

Do you have other interests of work outside the band?

Each member has a job referent to his degree, George and Ray are Chemical Engineers, Beto is a Psychologist.

And speaking about music, we have other projects like: Ray plays bass in Tenebrarum and Beto plays drums in HERETIC, Shemhamforash, Iatrogenia and for studio recordings with Nunca Mas, Ambrotos and Greedy capitalist.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? With HERETIC we have produced the 2 cds independently, but we are open to the options of record labels.

What made you decide to make this music? The style flowed naturally; when we got together we decided to do what we like in a free way, with an straight idea of overcoming what we previously played in other bands.

What are your songs about? Our songs are about criticism any kind of religion, possessions, crimes and hatred.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? The composition is by the 3 members, when someone has an idea, the others complement it, the lyrics are also written between the three, this makes it easier to do our musical work, because we all contribute.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? First we make the music and then we complement the lyrics.

Do you compose in a certain environment? Yes, between beer, 68°F, laughs, jokes… nothing unusual just being ourselves with no regrets

Have you done any covers live? No, we only play our themes.

What language do you sing in? Spanish & English

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? We have played for crowd from 50 to 600 people.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? The crowd in our concerts is from young teenagers of new generations to adults of 50 years or more.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We try to have a different set-list in each event, between 8 and 10 songs.

Do you have a regular place you play live often? No we haven’t. We play in different places and differents cities in country.

What was your first gig like? HERETIC’s first gig, was in a Metal bar in Guadalajara city around 2011.

What was your latest gig? HERETIC’s last concert was with Avulsed on his tour in Mexico.

Have you had to cancel a gig? Since the beginning of the band we haven't canceled any event.

Where have you played live this year? This year we've played in some states and littles towns of all Mexico, it's hard to remember all places now, but about 15 times in different places.

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We have thoughts about return to Brazil for a second tour, with our new material, since 2015 that we went and we did some shows together with Chaoslace (Brazil), we also have planed to play in Colombia and Argentina.

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We try to have merchandise from the band all time, like shirts, CDs and patches, for now we have CDs and T-shirts for sale.

Where can people buy your merchandise? You can put in contact with the band via Facebook or e-mail to buy HERETIC’s stuff.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? In some way it helps just for diffusion of the band, nothing more, but the best way to support our Metal Brothers is buying their material and merchandise, especially in independent bands.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? Yes, it has changed a lot, the economic income is not the same for the label, or the bands; there's something we have observed, only few metal groups fill stadiums, now they fill only if they are festivals and playing a lot of bands.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business?

our work is a very good job! and it's for recognize the effort that you are making to support the underground scene internationally in every interview with the musicians and bands.

I am sure that thanks to this interview more people will listen to our proposal in other places that would be hard to reach.

Do you have any role models or idols?

Beto.- Models or idols not so much, but personally I like what Sarcofago (Brazil) did as an international band.

Ray.- Trey Azagthoth from Morbid Angel

Geroge.-

Why do you think that they exist?

It is a role of life, they are here because... that's the way it has to be, not for other thing. They will never know that you are inspired by them, so maybe you are an idol for another person and you don't know it... Every person has to be authentic.

We exist because of our passion to play what we like, to express ourselves freely and that exist more people with the same taste.

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? A lot of what we do is inspired by the old school of metal, but also the new styles of different genres and of course our crazy and complex ideas.

What have been your biggest obstacles? Our biggest obstacles: to have little time to rehearse, because of our jobs absorb a great part of us, but even when we get together to rehearse we make it to worth it, another obstacle was that, once, a label was interested to produce HERETIC's second album, but they wanted to change our style and sound, so we took it independently.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Do not pay to play, because that is damaging the scene, always keep your feet on the ground and do what you like with passion and commitment.

How do you get psyched for a gig?

Beto.- All concerts cause me nerves, but when I do the counting to start the first song they disappear and then it becomes an indescribable sensation.

Ray.- Beer, nerves, some neck exercises to avoid the pain next day and think that the people wants to have a great time listeting our music!

Do you have any new material? We’ve been recording every 3 years approximately, although with departure of previous bassist we have delayed a bit next material, but we are about to have it in preproduction with the help of Kostas (Greek friend guitarist of the bands Korrigan, Ambrotos and Greedy Capitalist) in a few months.
