Interview with Virgil

Have any of you play in other Bands? All of us have played in several bands in the north of France and Belgium.

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? The five of us Are Julian 30yo (Guitar), Thomas 31yo (Guitar), Charles 27yo (Bass), Marius 25yo (singer), David 37yo (Drums)

Have you had other previous members? Yes our former Drummer Aurélien who left the band two months ago

Where are you from? We’re all from the north of France (Lille, Arras, Douai)

What year did the band form? The Band has formed in 2016.

What's your style of genre? The band is clearly Black metal/Death/Deathcore and a bit of Hardcore.

How often and where do you reherse? We reherse once a week in Douai where lots of local bands have the same rehersal spot.

Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Yes for sure, our first album will be there to try to join a booker roster.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Same answer as the previous question.

What made you decide to make this music? We try to make the darkest melting of our influences , with efficiency and coldness

What are your songs about? It’s about Dante’s Inferno, the travel through our own fears anf feelings.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Julian and Charles are composing the music with everyone approval and Marius writes the lyrics.

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? We always start with the music.

Have you done any covers live? Not yet but i twill come shortly !

What language do you sing in? We sing in English

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Blackness and cold, big riffs and lot of anger.

What ages are most of your concert attendants? Between 18  and 40 our music style can touch metalcore lovers and black metal fans !

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? The Set list is evolving constantly.

What was your first gig like? It gave us the will to do more gigs and now we have done more than 30 gigs and every new one  are much better than the one before.

What was your latest gig? We played to win the Opening Spot of a festival in the north of France, we Won and we will be playing as openers for In Flames and other big Bands !

Have you had to cancel a gig? Never ever !

Where have you played live this year? We played mainly in the north of France and in Belgium

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We’d like to play abroad More Often !

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? For the moment we only have One Tshirt visual and our EP it’s been a year Now and we work on new visuals now !

Where can people buy your merchandise? On gigs for the moment.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? The music is now more digital than real thing (like CD's or vinyls), we can not fight against downloading music even if it is more reachable with yoube or spotify and bandcamp, for the moment we try to be known  and we don’t care about being downloaded.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? The music industry has change with the digital era, lots of new Label have emerged and every bands have a chance to let teir stuff to be known !

What do you think of my work? You give a word and a chance to every bands to be known, we think that is a really great initiative and more people would do like you to let their passions talk.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? It will help us to have some visibility abroad and maybe give to your readers the chance to come and discover our stuff.

Do you have any role models or idols? We are driven by Behemoth, Black Daliah Murder, Thy Art is Murder, all these bands are our main influences

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? Both of them, we are inspired by old and actual bands, it depends on the atmosphere we like to create and what drives the track we are writing.

What have been your biggest obstacles? For the moment we haven’t met big obstacle as a local band, the one we have in front of us is to reach the upper status and become a bigger player in the music industry.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? Never give Up and do what you like.

How do you get psyched for a gig?

We are most of time calm and Focused on the gig . 

We like to have a talk with the people in the place with a cool attitude, because we are all here to enjoy ourselves.

Do you have any new material? We’re working on and recording the album, a new live set is being settled, we have our new drummer to be introduced and we also work on new merch visuals.
