interview with Schmale Schakale

Have any of you played in other bands? "Yes, each of us course ;-)"
How is it that you started playing music? "We were forced to do that - following our genetic code, doing our own thing with big fun at all... Philosophy answer, isn't it?"
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? In short form: BEN(edikt) – 46 – Drums / Dr. Best (Daniel) – 45 – Guitar / Ditschi (Ditmar) – 52 – Bass / Lübby (Frank) – 52 – Vocals
Have you had other previous members? Last year our „old“ Bass-Man OBI (39) left the Band (need more time for himself and his family)
Did you make music even when you were young? All Band members had other Band before they changed from "teens 2 twens"
Where are you from? We are from „good old germany“ - about 80 km east of Cologne in a region called „sauerland“
What year did the band form? „Schmale Schakale“ was founded in November 2011 (Our Drummer BEN wanted a Band for his (40) Birthday)
What's your style of genre? We cover basicly all those (Punk) Rock & Metal Songs that we also hear private/70s to 90s stuff
What inspires you? "Ditschi und me (Lübby) were influenced by music in the 70s and 80s - AC / DC, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Ted Nugent, Saxon, Metallica, Slayer …,  "
How often and where do you reherse? "Too little! Since 2 members ride in shifts and our drummer is 130km away we average about one rehearsal a month.
We rehearse in Lennestadt (Meggen) with 6 other bands in ""Rooms 4 Rock"""
How have you developed since you started with the music? Would be a miracle if not - in the past we have written (in different bands) own songs - in the last years we just  covered only Rock and Metal songs
Do you have other interests of work outside the band? "Besides our families and sports activities, there is not so much to mention"
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? "No, we are managed by our Drummer BEN…"
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Since we only cover it does not really make much sense
What made you decide to make this music? Just speaking for me: The rock singers got the most girls, that was incentive enough ;-)"

What ages are most of your concert attendants? Very different - from 20 up to 70
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? "Always the same ""song and dance"" is boring. We change basically and according to the occasion"

What do you think of my work? Great Job! It‘s a honor to work with U
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? I‘m not really care – but we hope that it won‘t damage / hurt us (more than we do by ourselfs)
Do you have any role models or idols? In my youth it was Bon Scott
Why do you think that they exist? It only is human to look up to someone
"Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?" "I Guess the mixture of "old & new" (solid base + open mind) makes it."
What have been your biggest obstacles?
Apart from the fact that you often stand in your own way??
What is lacking in talent can be removed through work and perseverance - but it is often overly charged. Face your weaknesses ;-)
