What is the name of your band? Name of the band-members? Where did you grow up? How old are you? Who started the band?
The name of our band is “God’s Desire”.
God’s Desire founded in 2006 by our vocalist Aris Stabolidis, guitarist Vasilis Arvanitis and drummer Antonis Vamvakopoulos in a Greek town called Orestiada. We started playing music and writing songs all together in an old house which we were using for rehearsals. Orestiada is also our hometown where we grew up.
Our current line-up is:
Aris Stabolidis (24 years old) – Vocals & guitar
Vasilis Arvanitis (24 years old) – Guitar
Antonis Vamvakopoulos (23 years old) – Drums
Dimitris Gousidis (21 years old) – Bass
Where have you played 2012/2013? Where can people see you? Do you have a web-site?
We did not make many appearances in the last two years (2012/2013), but even these few we did were very important concerts for us, we are happy for the people who came to see us. We played two times at “8ball club live stage” in Thessaloniki (February and May 2012) and also performed at a big music festival held here every year called “Ardas Festival” (July 2012).
People can see us perform in Thessaloniki again in a few days on April 28 at “Zontani Mayri Trypa” where we will play for a band contest. You can also like us and learn our news in our official facebook page www.facebook.com/godsdesire2006 which we also use as a web-site.
What is the name of your best song? What kind of music are you into?
We can’t say that we have some specific song as favorite or best song, but I think that most people like us when they hear the song “O Pappas Tis Geitonias”. This song talks about a priest who lives at our neighborhood and likes to listen to metal music. (no need to say anything else…)
God’s Desire can be classified in a particular kind of the Greek Metal scene which is called “Masturbation / Comedy Metal” because of the lyrics, which are mostly scathing, satirical and comic sometimes. The genre of our music regardless of the lyrics sounds like “Punk Metal / Hardcore with Thrash and Heavy Metal”.
Have you been on tour this summer? Do you have a planned tour anytime soon?
As we said before, last year we did not get a lot of concerts but this summer we plan to make a tour in some Greek cities and also perform again in “Ardas Festival”.
Who came up with the band name? Who writes the songs? What song do you play the most? Do you play the same songs each performance?
As long as we remember Aris (vocalist/guitarist) and Antonis (drummer) came up with the band’s name. When we came up with the name we didn’t know yet what kind of lyrics we would place in our songs.
The songs we mostly play when we perform are “Vlammeno Koritsi”, “O Pappas Tis Geitonias”, “H Mana Sou Trelathike”, “Vyzotsibas”, “Vromiara”. I think “Vlammeno Koritsi” and “Vromiara” are the two only songs since 2007 that we played in every single concert! We change most of our songs and track list in each performance but some songs stay the same every time.
Have you released an album or single? Are you working on any new songs?
We have released 1 demo, 1 live album and 4 full albums of our production since 2007. Our first demo was called “God’s Desire” and had 4 songs in it with really dirty production. The live album called “Alive In Ardas 2008”. And the other 4 albums you can download it for free or listen to all 4 of them in YouTube.
