Whats the name of your band? Stöbi: We are called MARTENS ARMY . I think, if you hear this name you can connect a pure skinhead band with it. We got the name from the song of the band “Stars & Stripes – Doc Martens Army” and we are doing Oi! – music with mostly german lyrics. We also got 4-5 english songs.

Name of the band-members? Stöbi: Well, there is me, Stöbi, I play the main guitar, write and sing all the songs, the guy on the drums is called Fabi and the bassplayers name is Taddeus. We play in this formation since 2012. In the past there were Conny (drums) and fusel (bassguitar) from 2008-2010, after that, the members chance into Tony (bassguitar) and Heino (drums). They played in the band from 2010 – 2012

Where did you grow up? Stöbi: We are all living in germany. I grew up in the East of germay (Leipzig and Wittenberg) like Taddeus.  We were born during the cold war and grew up in a communist regime called GDR (German Democratic Republik). After Germany was re-united wo had to learn to live in a “new world”. But we are very happy about this situation. Because without this big Change in Germany (we call it the “Wende”) we never got to know Fabi from western Germany. He lives in a the town Siegen.

How old are you? Stöbi: We are between 24 and 30 years old

Who started the band? Stöbi: The band started in 2008 with the line up CONNY (drums), Fussel (Bassguitar) and STÖBI (Guitar/Vocals). But after a small clash between all members, the band broke down. So STÖBI was alone and entered the studio to record the first full length album “Ein Oi! Auf meinem Herz” (An Oi! On my heart). After that Stöbi met 2 new guys called HEINO and TONY from the Band BIERTRAS who later played the bass and the drums and supported Stöbi at some live gigs.
But in 2012 also these 2 guys quited the band cause they wanted to concentrate more on their own band. And now the new compilation and hopefully the last one is Fabi, Taddeus and Stöbi.

Where have you played in 2012/2013? Stöbi: Well, in these 2 years we had and will have our best gigs. We played in towns like Berlin, Erfurt, Vienna, Zurich, Prague and so on. And we also played with such great bands like the Business, KrawallBrüder, Badlands, Booze & Glory, evil Conduct

Where can people see you? Stöbi: I think the most concerts we played and will play in Germany, because we are singing german lyrics, but sometimes we also play in foreign countries like Austria, Switzerland and Czech republic. But if you are interested in our music you can come to such big festivals like BACK ON THE STREETS or SPIRIT FROM THE STREETS. They are visited by a lot of people from different countries and there is always a good line up also Martens Army

Do you have a website? Stöbi: The only thing we have is facebook. There you can get all information about the band and the next gigs. Bit in 2-3 months we also will have a own homepage. So watch out:

What is the name of your best song? Stöbi: We got a lot of “best songs” I guess J. But I think the german audience like very much the song “Alkohol und Hausverbot” (alcohol & order to stay away from the pubs) because it is a singalong and the song “Wir scheißen auf oire lügen” (we give a damn of your lies) because the lyrics a very true and it is a reaction of the attacks from the internet against our szene. Also our splitsong with the band BIERTRAS is very nice. Its about our homeland Saxony and it is called “unter Sachsen Flagge” (unter the flag of Saxony) and if you wanna watch it, we made a funny youtube video for this song. But if you are interested in English versions, than it is good to listen to our EP “Wasteland”. Very great stuff I think.

Who played what? Stöbi: Fabi – drums, Taddeus – bassguitar, Stöbi – rhythm guitar/vocals. But maybe in the future Taddeus will change to the rhytm guitar and another guy calles Alex will play the bassguitar.

What kind of music are you into? Stöbi: We are playing pure Oi!-Musik. A kind of Streetpunk with Skinhead lyrics

Have you been on tour this summer? Stöbi: Yes we were. We played 5 gigs in towns like Berlin, Annaberg-Buchholz, Erfurt, Stuttgart, Nürnberg. It was our first tour and we promoted our new CD “ein kleines bisschen violence” (a little bit violence)

Do you have a planed tour anytime soon? Stöbi: No we don´t because now we have to concentrate on our new single “Martens Army Skinhead Crew” with 4 songs. 2 in german language, 2 in English language and after that we will play some big shows. And now I am also guitar player with the band badlands and so there is not so much time for a tour. But maybe in 2014?

Who came up with the band name? Stöbi: I think our bandname shows directly what music we play and what scene we belong to. And it also show that we are not and won´t be alone all over the world. There are a lot aof Skinheads and punks who are united with us and marching together unter one flag and stick together as a big working class army – the Martens army

Who writes the songs? Stöbi: that´s me! ;-) – the lyrics, the sound and the melodies!

What songs do you play most? Stöbi: WE ARE THE MARTENS ARMY! A simple and fast song who existed from the beginning of the band.

Du you play the same song each performance? Stöbi: It depents on the time we have to do a performance. We got a big setlist and if we want we could play 2 hours or so, but for example on a festival, you don´t have the time to do that. So we pick out the best and catchy songs and try to attack the audience with that.

Have you released a album or a single or are you working on any new songs? Stöbi: Yes we do! We got the demo CD “Bootboys on the road”, after that there was our first full length album “Ein Oi! Auf meinem Herz”, after that there were a split album with 6 songs of us and 6 songs of the band THEKENPROMINENZ called “sing mein Sachse sing”, after this we do the 4 Song EP “Wasteland” and nearly at the same time our second full length CD “Ein kleines bisschen violence” and now we are working as I told you on the 4 Songs EP “MASC – Martens Army Skinhead Crew”. So you se we did our job very well and also in the fute we will have a lot of good music to release.
