interview with Excruciate 666
What is the name off bands? At the beginning,the band has had the name of PULVERIZERS and it finish to be called EXCRUCIATE 666.
What made you to be baptized to just "Excruciate 666"? We are interested in the obscured practises of midle ages like tortures, we have thought Excruciate was a good name for a black-metal band. After to have kept this name for a litle time, we have discovered an other band with the same name. It was the Death metal band from Sweden. Originally, we were interested in Satanism and we wanted to play Black Metal. We thus have to add “666” to mark down . Now we aged and we became more down-to-earth. Today our convictions are a little bit different but we always have to keep our name such which.
Who started the band? Me, Morgraven and my warbrother Blasphemort in 1994.
How did you do? Blasphemort and me had the idea to create a band of Thrash/ Death in the veins of Massacra. Lord Vlad joined the band as guitarist and Cerbère as drummer in 1995. With the arrival of Iscarioth on drums, we have to change way to turn to Black Metal. This atmosphere really stuck on our way of thinking.
Tell us a brief introduction of who you are? We have recorded 3 demos but it’s the third “warblood” which reveal our own style. Since this moment, we sharpened our art in a War Black Thrash metal, wild and brutal but with sometimes epic and heavy parts.
Where are you from? We ar comming from the north of France. Maybe you know LILLE? We live at 100kms far away this town. We are not far from Belgium.
What is your name?/Who plays what?/How old are you? Morgraven bass and vocals since 1994, Blasphemort on rythmic guitar since 1994 too, Obx on lead guitar since 2013 and Oswald on drums since 2008. We are 36 years old on average.
What was the plan when you started the band? Kick ass with our black art and our War hymns!!!
Explain to those who have not heard you, how does your Music? Our music is a mixture of black metal and thrash, fast and rough with sometimes epic and heavy metal parts. When you listen to Excruciate 666, you are transported on the wild and bloodthirsty battlefields of our heathen and barbaric ancestors.
Where were off last gig? Our last gig took place in Belgium at No Compromise Metal Fest with a mixture of black metal, Death metal, Thrash and Heavy metal bands like ATTIC, SLAUGHTER MESSIAH, HORACLE...and more! It was very furious! We would have believed that we had returned 30 years behind! That stank of the leather, of nails, of the beer... of Metal!
Who writes the songs?/Who does the music? At the beginning, Lord Vlad wrote all the songs, and after his left I took over on with Blasphemort. And it will always be so for now.
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? WAR! Unmistakably war! History of the world is written by the battles between peoples. War can seem destroyer but I think it’s it which make rising humanity. We must glorify the War!
Do you own songs or covers? We always wrote our own songs, but we sometimes play on stage a cult cover from bands which we like. We have already play songs from Bathory, Impaled Nazarene, Dark funeral, Gorgoroth, Destroyer 666 and Kreator for example
Have you released any album or single? We have recorded 2 full-lenght albums “Riding Fires of Hate” and “Rites of torturers” after 3 demos and 4 split albums with bands of brothers. We like a lot this concept!

Have you done any music videos? Not unfortunately. But it is one of our main projects!
How old were you when you started with music? As for me, I start music with Excruciate 666 and I was 17 years old.
When did you decide to focus on the music? We spoke about the band since 14-15 years old, I think.
What record do you work with? At present, for the new album “Rites of Torturers”, we work with the Mexican label “Iron Blood/ Death Corporation” which makes a great job for us. He nknows exactly what we want! For the previous productions, we worked with the French labels “Sabbath’s Fire” for vinyls, "Infernal Kommando" for the first album and "Eisiger Mond" for our split CD with Sovereign. I also already put the shoulder to the wheel with my own label “Kaos productions” for some prod ' of which the re-issue of our demo " Warblood " vinyl.
Describe your show, visual and musically Excruciate 666’s shows are dark, violent,bestial and epic. And a particular little gift, we impaled heads of pigs on the stage as made it the barbarians to frighten the ennemy!
What are your two big favorite songs you done? I think “Battlehammer of inner war” and “Sons of Warfare”
What drives a band that is not very well known and live on it to continue to play? Because Metal flows in our veins, and Excruciate 666 is our live for more 20 years...
Where have you played from 1994 to 2013? Only in France and Belgium for now but it will be changed this year.
What is your pre-show ritual? Drink.. a little only!!! Ahah!
Have you toured somewhat over the years 1994 to 2013? Not yet, but we start our first mini tour with Handfull of Hate and Stahlsarg on the beginning of this year and we plan a European tour with 10 dates for the end of this year too.
How many people usually come to your gig? usually we can see between 100 and 200 persons. It depends on the number of bands and which are those bands...
Where do you plan to play the rest of the year? We should play in England, Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Switzerlands during our tour at the end of this year.

What are your plans for the future? We are working on a third album and we prepared actually some songs for a split-cd with an other band or a MCD. We should play too a tour in some european countries at the end of the year. But it remains to be confirmed.
