interview with Sutrah
What´s the name of your band? Sutrah. I was reading a article on kama sutra in a newspaper, and that gave me the idea of Sutrah : This name shows that we are limitless, there is no place to taboo for us.
How was the band formed? We are in the same high school. In this school, there is a music option that we all chosen, which allowed students to make little concerts … One time, for fun, we made an
improvisation and that gave us the envy to make a band.
Can you tell about your band? Sutrah is a band of alternative rock. We only play compositions, with the meddle of our respectives influences (each member of the band has his own influences, this make the
the sound of Sutrah). It makes a meddle of rock, punk, space rock, hard rock, metal, funk … Each composition has its own meddle of influences.
Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band?
We all are in Reunion Island, a french island in the indian ocean. The members :
Tinany Faure : Singer
Thomas Colleu : Lead guitarist
Aymeric Déchet : Rythm guitarist
Théo Lucas : Bassist
Ronny Rockel : Drummer
There is no leader in the band. Everybody take part in composition.
What was the ambitions of the band when you started? Become a great band of rock. Make an album which will found its place in CD collection of many rock fans in the world. Playing enormous concerts, make a tour in the world, see the peoples have fun with our music.
Where was your first gig? In a pub no far of our school. It was fantastic, we have put the volume very high, we have destroy the tympanums of all the neighborhood :) THAT'S ROCK !!
Where was the latest gig? In a famous local "café-concert", I don't know how englishes call that.
Who writes your songs?/Who writes the music who writes lyrics? All members takes part to songwritting and composition.
Who has the best since of humor in the band? Everybody, we kidding a lot in repetitions.
Do you write your own material or mainly covers? Own material only, this is music. Each musician has something to say, this may be cool, this may be shit, we don't care : it's important to say that you have to say.

How old are you? All the members of the band are between 17 and 20 years old.
What year was the band started? The "birth date" of Sutrah is 03rd February 2013
Best/worst gig you've played? "Dr Alexis rock", because it's the most legendary scene of Reunion Island.
Where have you played from then till now? Only in Reunion Island.
Is it always the same songs live? We try to add news songs frequently for the lives
What are the plans for the rest of the year? Get gigs, and maybe make an album.
Is it easier to get your inspiration from older bands or from bands more modern? I think that we must not try to get inspiration with older bands because they had already make a lot of masterpieces in their own field. We have to make news things, new sounds, new music. They give us the way to play rock music, we have to explore all the ways they don't know.
What are your sources of inspiration? Each members of the band has his own sources of inspiration. It's impossible to quote all :p
What's the first step when making a new song? Let go ourselves. Let the creativity go. It must be unstudied, spontaneous.
How do you feel about the downloading of music instead of buying albums? It may be cool, it may contribute to the freedom of internet. But the illegal downloading is a very bad thing and must stop.
What would be your greatest fears for the future? The end of the adventure.
How important are your fans? Fans are very important, they are a source of motivation.

Describe your show, visually and musically We move a lot, we make the show with a big deflagration of energy ! Sometimes we make a pogo on the scene ! That's ROCK !!!
What advice would you like to give other bands? Have fun, make your own music, and love the other musicians of your band like members of your family.
What are the biggest obstacles for a band? Rhythm problems … and incoherences between each member's ambition.
What is best/worst with playing the clubs?
Best : the underground atmosphere.
Worst : you may get a beer bottle in face.
How would you describe your sound in one sentence Come to our gigs, you will get a good time and forget your problems.
Whats your Pre-show ritual? Sacrifice a cow! Just kidding, in fact we make a little band reunion, we tell us that the show will be great, we will do the best so that peoples will have a good time.
