interview with Battle Scarred
What´s the name of your band? Battle Scarred
How was the band formed? We were 3 friends who just thought it would be cool to be in a band. We really couldn´t play or anything. But we had the right spirit. And practiced alot in the beginning.
Can you tell about your band? Me (Puncc)"Pitch" on drums and my cousin "Joe.L" on bass started it in the summer of 1995. In March ´96 we recorded our first demo and played our first gig.
After alot of lineup changes, gigs and a couple of releases later, Here we are still!
Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band? Me (Puncc. Singer/bass player) and the other guys who started the band are based in Gefle, Sweden. But todays lineup includes "Pontan" on guitars, and "Micro" on drums. They
both live in Stockholm, so it´s about 180km between us.
What was the ambitions of the band when you started? To have plenty of fun and get some girls. Hehehe... We succeded on at least one of those.
Could you explain your music to someone that haven't heard you? A hard question. But i think we play melodic punk rock. I have no intention to compare ourselves to any other band really. Check us out and see for your self.
Where was your first gig? In March of 1996 at a youth club in Gefle. Still have it on video :)
Where was the latest gig? In Stockholm in October last year.
Who writes your songs?/Who writes the music who writes lyrics? I usually come up with the songs and arrangements. "Svulf" who used to play bass with us have helped out alot through the years.
Who has the best since of humor in the band? Me! No doubt about that.
What's good/bad with the band?/What genre do you feel you are?
What is good about it is that everything takes a really long time (writing songs etc.) and we just take it as it comes. No hurry.
Bad things? Hmm... Perhaps that everything takes a really long time. Hahaha... And. I wouldn´t mind if the other guys lived closer.
What genre? Well... People usually have opinions whether we are Oi!, streetpunk or what ever... I just call us Punk.
Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? When we started the band. All of us were into Punk music. So it was a pretty easy choice. Our songs are about hanging out with mates, drinking beer and watch football.
Do you write your own material or mainly covers? We usually have one or two covers on our records. And the rest is written by us.
Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they? We have recorded 5 fullength records. "Battle scarred", "Oi! Oi! music, football & beer", "Thunder & Lightning", "Gevalia"
And a split called "Belive in revenge" and a couple of singles.
A compilation cd called "Too punk to fuck. Singles and rarities 1995-2012" will be released next month. And we are also working
on a new fullength called "Punk rock high" that will be released next year.
