interview with Goremitory

Have any of you played in other bands? Yes. Actually all of us.

How is it that you started playing music? We started as a side-project band. Since we have that kind momentum to create music, we decided to push it through.

What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? GJ (bass ), 31 / Tristan ( vocals ), 29 / Francis ( guitar / drum programming ), 28.

Have you had other previous members? Yes. A lot of changes has been made.

Where are you from? Gj is from San Mateo, Rizal. Tristan is from Baguio but currently residing at Pasig City, and I'm from Manila.

What year did the band form? July of 2009.

What's your style of genre? We started as a straight death-metal back 2009, but we are currently at some point of slamming death-metal.

What inspires you? Of course our influence musicians, food, booze, pornography, and again. food. Lol

How often and where do you reherse? Once in a month. Due to our busy work schedules nowadays we are just sharing our ideas and practices online or if we can spare some time.

How have you developed since you started with the music? Listening will be always be the key, once you anticipate the music that you love, you're gonna dig and adapt the elements of it.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Yep! But we're currently building up with Rotten Music (Chris Jachym) for a promotion to our plans this coming 2016. Chris gave us a  great opportunity to spread our stuff in Europe.

What are your songs about? It's all about rape, politics, genocide, and everything gore! Lol

Do you start with the music or the lyrics? We start with the music.

Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Yes. All of us do this at home and for drum programming, I need to spend some time at some internet rental shops because I don't own a PC.

Have you done any covers live? We did a cover song from the almighty Devourment ("Baby Killer") and Infernal Revulsion  ("Deep Down Human Being"), and we also did a Decapitated song ("Spheres of Madness", "Mandatory Suicide" - Slayer cover) and Dominate by Morbid Angel wayback 2009.

What language do you sing in? English as always.

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? I can't remember the least. But I think it's a bar around Quezon City way back 2011. The most attend gig was Killing Fields 3, 4, and 5, Maximum Carnage, Musikalohiya 5... but there are lots of events with massive people around the bar. Hahah

What ages are most of your concert attendants? All of sets of ages.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? We do vary, but we're planning to make new stuff.

Do you have a regular place you play live often? Well before we are always at Center 4 Arts at Quezon City, there are a bunch of music bars around NCR back then, we play often recently at Chrome Box at Marikina City, where the underground scene gathered together and bond all night long. But sad to know that Chrome Box just got closed due to insecured type people and the other bars as well. However, we still have a few.

What was your first gig like? I can't even remember, we're so drunk back then. Hahah

What was your latest gig? Killing Fields 5 last June 13, 2015.

Have you had to cancel a gig? Yes, we also encountered that.

Where have you played live this year? The Collective at Makati and bars around Quezon City, and Marikina.

Where do you plan to gig the comming year? This 14th of August at Cainta (Killing Fields 5, 2nd leg)

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We started around 2013 and we tried to sell our Demo CD at some gigs last Killing Fields 3. Then we decided to sell our first ever band shirt and our very first EP last year, all of our stuff made by DIY.

Where can people buy your merchandise? They can send us a mesage on our Facebook page or they can reach us at some gigs.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records nowadays? It's like "hitting below the balls" into the band. But it's not bad if other people bought the downloaded songs online.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? It's all about the changes of technology, it is already 2015 but some people nowadays are just relying on technology and just can't even figure out the meaning of "effort" and passion from us musicians, and visualize how we run to make materials on what we used to live with.

How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? This is very helpful to promote our scene in the Philippines  and to have an opportunity to share our stuff.

Do you have any role models or idols? Not models, but idols... Most of them are from our music influences.

Why do you think that they exist? Because they do have  the passion to work on their stuff, plus the good attitude as well.

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? We're still inspired from the old school bands, even the new and not so new guys will tell the same thing.

What have been your biggest obstacles? Time management. Because we are so busy as of the moment.

What advice would you give other bands or artists? "Always keep your foot on the ground", attitude lasts longer. To practice is always given, treat your bandmates as your family  as well.

How do you get psyched for a gig? When where drunk. Lol

Do you have any new material? We're currently promoting our first ever 5 ways split album from Rotten Music titled "Human Abattoir" just got released a month ago.

What are your web sites? Just a Facebook page, we do have a RevNation account but it's not active.
