What year did the band form? 2013
What's your style of genre? I would say classic influenced Death/Thrash
What inspires you? We all have alot of influences- but for Fight Till Death- its all about heavy, groovy, fast and brutal. Any music that is pissed off genuinely!
How often and where do you reherse? 1-2 days a week at the Santa Cruz Rehearsal Studios
How have you developed since you started with the music? I think we have grown into our sound. All of the songs have developed nicely and I think we definitely have our own sound/ style, we have influences but none of our songs sound just like anyone else.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? Yeah wed be open to it!
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? Yeah Wed be open to it! If the right thing came along maybe.
What made you decide to make this music? For the love of that classic killer metal.
What are your songs about? Killing, satan, death, fighting, hatred, shooting dope.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Brayton Furlong writes the lyrics and does the initial composing of new material but we all contribute and have a say in it by the time its a polished song!
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? A couple songs came together both at the same time. But usually the instrumentals are written first then lyrics.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? Usually a place I can be alone without distraction. I wrote the first album in a barn. Lately Max and I (Brayton) have been writing the new songs together at his recording studio.
Have you done any covers live? No, not real into covers- we want to play our shit!
What language do you sing in? English
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? Were just getting going so probably 100 people roughly at a show we opened up for. Weve probably played for as few as 15-20 people before also. Santa cruz doesnt have much of a metal scene unfortunately.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? 20's
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? So far but as we get new songs it would be nice to alternate.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? Yeah the Catalyst or the blue lagoon in downtown Santa Cruz.
What was your first gig like? We played a small dive bar that didnt allow pitting. The show was actually pretty good and had a good turn out though! Although I would have preferred to see some fuckers thrashing!
What was your latest gig? We have one coming up with The Highway Murderers in Santa Cruz at the blue lagoon.
Have you had to cancel a gig? No
Where have you played live this year? Only in Santa Cruz
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? Hopefully Santa Cruz and possibly San Francisco
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? So far we have Shirts, Hats and our Album.
Where can people buy your merchandise? Fight Till Death on Bandcamp.com
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records nowadays? Well makes it pretty hard to make a living as a musician.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? Shit I think less people go to shows- and getting your hands on a good album is as easy as typing in you tube on google. So there's easy access to everything which makes nothing seem as special.
What do you think of my work? Stoked on it! Thanks for interviewing us!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? I don't have any expectations but am stoked to get our band and music in front of an audience who might like it and give it a listen!
Do you have any role models or idols? Kyle and I are huge Sepultura fans as well as slayer, demolition Hammer, Venom, cannibal corpse and to many others to mention.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? For Fight Till Death- definately the older bands influence the style were going for with this band.
What have been your biggest obstacles? I think just assembling the band initially. Seems to have just taken off since then!
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Play with people who are easy going and enthusiastic about playing. Support other bands that you like!
How do you get psyched for a gig? Listen to Something brutal before playing!
Do you have any new material? Hell yeah we are writing another EP right now- almost 5 new songs are done.
