interview with Resonance Cascade
How is it that you started playing music? We started this band, Resonance Cascade, to play kinda simple, effective and fast music. Grindcore!!
What are your names? / Who plays what? / How old are you? Arvid Borg plays the drums, Andreas Johansson plays the bass, Dan Widing plays the guitar and Johan Bergström handle the vocals. We are almost adults.
Have you had other previous members? Yes, we had another drummer in the start, Patrik. He left the band cuz he didn´t think he played fast enough.
Did you make music even when you were young? Yepp.
Where are you from? We are from Scania, Sweden. From the towns Lund, Malmö and Osby.
What year did the band form? Think it was late 2012
What's your style of genre? Grindcore
What inspires you? For lyrics I think Johan writes about how shitty the world are basicly and for the musical part I think we just wanna intense interesting tunes. What inspire us must be our love for grindcore.
How often and where do you reherse? We rehearse in the band AHRMs rehearsal studio in Malmö. And we don´t rehearse that often. It can go several months between the rehearsals.
How have you developed since you started with the music? I think we write better and better songs. More interesting and catchy.
Are you looking for a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that? If a booking agency wanna work with us we say yes! It´s hard to get shows nowadays so if someone wanna help us out. Why not?
Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that? We are lucky to have labels to release our recordings so far. It´s hard work to make a mark in the scene. To make people notice you. To get shows or interviews like this one....
What made you decide to make this music? We wanna make intense interesting music that are fast. We wanna go grindcore cuz we this is our first grindcore band we have played in...
What are your songs about? About our world. The unfair life.
Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? Johan and Andreas
Do you start with the music or the lyrics? Sometimes Johan or Andreas got some lyrics that we can use for a song. Sometimes they have to write a lyric when the music is done.
Do you compose in a certain inviroment? So far it have been me, Dan or Arvid doing the songs at home and we have arranged a bit together. We will try to jam more to get a more dynamic groov to the song sructures.
Have you done any covers live? No. not yet. We will see if we do covers in the future.
What language do you sing in? English
What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs? We have just played a couple of times with this band. And there were quite alot of people attending on both gigs in Copenhagen wich were a grindcore festival and in Malmö were we played with Deranged and some other death metal band. Hopefully we will play more when our new recording will hit the streets in early summer.
What ages are most of your concert attendants? don´t reflect on stuff like that. People in their twenties, thierties??
Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary? Depending how long set time we have.
Do you have a regular place you play live often? Not yet.
What was your first gig like? It was on a grindcore festival in Copenhagen, the Grind core family weekend at ungdomshuset. A couple o hundred people that was really into our stuff. It was really cool.
What was your latest gig? In Malmö were we played with Deranged and some other death metal band in a rock club. A kinda average gig. People seemed to like our fast tunes.
Have you had to cancel a gig? No.
Where have you played live this year? In Malmö
Where do you plan to gig the comming year? We will try to play as much as possible were people want us to play.
When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale? We sell shirts, tapes, seven inch vinyl. Soon we will have a split twelve inch for sale.
Where can people buy your merchandise? We sell online and on shows.
What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days? Thats how it is. If people buys a shirt or a record doesn´t matter. And if people think we make music that are good and interesting, we are happy.
How do you think the music industry have changed because of this? Records doesn´t sell so much any more. Bands much sell lots of more merch and charge alot more for shows
What do you think of my work? Good of course. Thanx for let us be on your blog!
How do you think and know that this interview will help you in the music business? Oh, you help spread the word about Resonance Cascade. For that we thank you alot.
Do you have any role models or idols? Not really.
Why do you think that they exist? Some folks need someone for guidence maybe? Don´t know really.
Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today? No, not really. I think we all listen to a mix of new and old bands...
What have been your biggest obstacles? We have problems to get all four of us in the rehearsing room at the same time. Hard to find a time that fits uss all. We all have work or school, other bands, some of us have kids and stuff like that.
What advice would you give other bands or artists? Make good music!
How do you get psyched for a gig? Enjoying a beer.
Do you have any new material? I, Dan, got some riffs and ideas for a couple of songs and I know that Arvid have done some stuff at his place.
